OK folks, this whole winter is getting out of hand. I write from the frostbitten thumb of the enchanted mitten, otherwise known as Michigan. I went to go to lunch a couple of hours ago and it was -1 out with a strong south breeze that puts the wind chill at about -30. I shudder to open my next heating bill. I should be able to tell it from the other mail by weight alone. We have absolutely smashed the January snowfall records (at approx. 38" if I recall) and there still a few days left to bulk up the record a little bit. we are in the top 5 for coldest January on record and are on track to reach even higher. I also have the county road commission on speed dial. For the second time in a 2 week period the plow has absolutely decimated My mailbox. I found my mailbox 2 houses down with My mail scattered about it in a 15 foot blast radius. And in the middle of all this one of My fur-babies died (kitty). I'm not looking for sympathy. I'm just venting and maybe looking for just a little commiseration. So how are you holding up in this frigid season?
Welcome to Global Warming 2014!
Here in southern California, we haven’t had rain at all during the month of January. Bad drought will make for an even worse fire season...while we do not have your cold, we may be put on water restrictions in the near future. Stay warm!
Winter Wonderland
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight,
We’re happy tonight.
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman,
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He’ll say: Are you married?
We’ll say: No man,
But you can do the job
When you’re in town.
Later on, we’ll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we’ve made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
In the meadow we can build a snowman,
And pretend that he’s a circus clown
We’ll have lots of fun with mister snowman,
Until the other kids knock him down.
When it snows, ain’t it thrilling,
Though your nose gets a chilling
We’ll frolic and play, the Eskimo way,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
No kidding
9 degrees at my house in middle TN....one in the afternoon
This winter stinks. I’m usually a winter kind of guy.
Just imagine the guys at Jockey Hollow.
It almost february already...
Take the kids or grandkids sledding or tubing this weekend~!!!!!!!!! in a few short weeks it will be too late
You know you all want (and need) to get out and have some fun...)
At the end of Februiary is march and then “April showers bring May flowers”
Here in the wilds of Idaho it has really been mild for us. Minus 8 this morning. Usually have had a few minus 20 nights by now. No so this year. Our snow is at 43 inches, but we don’t get the real snow hit until later March,April.
I never associated your Chandler with Chandler. I swing very briefly into your town every time I see a concert in Phoenix, that Chandler Blvd Chevron is very conveniently placed.
After a few mild winters, it’s been a rough one so far in Rochester, NY, although we haven’t gotten as much snow as you have, Celtic Conservative. A lot of the snow we get in Rochester is lake effect snow that blows in frin the prevailing westerly winds off of Lake Erie and in the past few weeks, the lake has completely frozen over, thus shutting off the the lake effect snow. Stay warm and hang in there!
Our church prayed for those battling this extreme cold. The State of Michigan was specifically mentioned because my husband’s family all live there. They r struggling thru it also. It is cold here in Oklahoma but nothing compared to what u guys r going thru. It will definitely be a winter to remember. Someone is probably already making shirts that say, “I survived Winter 2014 in Michigan”! LOL!
We r going to Michigan.....in July, when it is beautiful.
Stay warm!!!
People leaving is what makes the north worthwhile.
If SHTF, people will flood south and I’m going to go scavenging abandoned woodpiles and hunting the glut of game left behind.
There will be polar vortex in hell before I believe in global warming!
I LOVE TUCSON!
I am a computer software angineer- let me know of any companies I can apply to down there so I can come back and work there some more
I used to work for Modula Mining near the airport
I hate driving in icy weather, sure, and the heating bills are no picnic, but overall I like winter. I like the look of the snow and ice and the air is purer on moderately cold days. And there are smaller benefits. The bicyclists are off the roads, for one!
I loathe the 90 degree humid weather days in the summer. Far worse than any winter day.
My brother is at tip of ring finger
I want global warming.
I was distinctly promised my doom via global warming, and I feel cheated.
And cold.
And there’s this yeti slapping me on the back.
Still, I know that folks have it far worse in other parts of the US ( Chicago? wow...) but I will never get used to winter.
Gray skies, snow, unhappy people, short days, no sunlight, face so chapped I look like I'm 100 years old.
Just being able to walk outside wearing what I am wearing indoors. Thats such a blessing.
Biking, birds, shorts ...
Yea, verily i say unto thee!
