Who really has more biracial families?

Posted on 01/30/2014 3:40:47 PM PST by MNDude

Recently MSNBC made the statement that the "right wing" would hate a biracial family.

A page on Twitter made by conservatives with biracial families immediately went up: https://twitter.com/search?q=%23MyRightWingBiracialFamily&src=hash

When I think about it, I can't help but wonder who is really more apt to have a "biracial" family? I suspect it's conservatives by a long-shot, here's why:

1. From what I've seen, middle class and upper class liberals usually seem content to have their one or two biological children. Conservatives tend to have larger families. Almost all of the children adopted from China, Guatemala, Korea, and Africa have been from very conservative and religious families.

2. I've known many conservative military service men that married women from the Philippines, Vietnam, or wherever they were stationed. Liberal men are much less apt to join the military and have this option available to them.

3. Many of the American men and women I know that are married to someone from India or Africa are those from missionary families. There's no one more conservative than missionary families.

Although we probably really can't call them conservative, but they were Republican Presidential candidates, Romney has a black grandchild, McCain has an adopted daughter (Guatemala?), Bush has several Latina in-laws.

I doubt there's any data on this topic anywhere, and I guess it doesn't matter other than exposing the endless hypocrisies the left.

What have you observed?

My next door neighbors. He's white. She's black. They've got like, fifty children. (Just kidding.)

But every election they've always got a Republican campaign sign in their yard. Hardly enough for a statistic, but still.

There were genetic studies of African Americans finding that the average one is one third to one fourth Caucasian.

There’s no real way to know. Loving your children no matter what their skin color should be universal.

I have one friend who is a conservative black man. He and his wife have two adopted biracial daughters, along with three other kids, both black and white, who they raised as foster children to adulthood. Those kids are still part of their family.

I also have a very liberal friend who has adopted two children from South America and Africa. He and his wife went through the struggle of finding out they couldn’t have children and have gone around the world to be great parents. One, they adopted, knowing she needed lifesaving surgery and spent untold amounts to save her. She is happy and healthy.

People who are good, kind and loving can look past the surface no matter what their politics. Ugly people like the MSNBC tweeter see politics before anything eles.

Tons of blacks have American Indian blood. I don’t see it ever discussed much. But it is obvious in people like Tina Turner and Michael Jacksons father, Joe. Lots of blacks from Oklahoma have Indian blood. I guess Texas too

“I’ve had a number of liberals ask me why I married a white wife.

Talk about rude.

Next time, ask them why they married an ugly one!”

Hah hah!

When WASP (White Anglo Saxon Protestant) was the term of derision for the dominant American culture Walter Williams used to call American Negros BASPs because they shared the dominant culture and had nothing in common with Africa beyond some of their genes.

Well, Williams is known for his libertarianism.
He obviously hated his own culture, using our culture norms as an epithet of derision.

Being Anglo-Saxon, or whatever, is merely the result of immigration from Britain. They WERE close to the East Coast.
Being Christian is the result of Jesus.

I guess Williams forgot about the millions of Italians, French, Spanish (all of the West) and Irish who FLOODED and settled this country because of the famines, wars, droughts and such of their homelands. Some of my own ancestors (father's side) ended up here because of European wars, and Mexican and French Revolutions.
There was even a big bump of Russians who ended up on the WEST coast because of THEIR revolution.

Williams wanted his "punch line" for deriding his OWN country.
He's NOT all bad, either. No one is except Satan and his minions.

He did not use it as a term of derision. He considered himself such a BASP. Prior to the 60s the black portion of the population was largely striving to enter the middle class mainstream, that WASP culture, which the immigrant Italians &c had already assimilated to and was succeeding rapidly form a low base but was largely shut off by LBJs War on Poverty and the massive cascade of Welfare onto the black community and the family disintegration and destruction that followed therefrom. The Southern black population had, since WWII become “immigrants’ to the industrial North and were reinforcing the base for and spurring the industrial takeoff that was occurring then. The Great Society put an end to all that.

I am shocked to see someone on FR denigrating Walter Williams, one of the two best economic minds in the country.

I am not denigrating him. HE was denigrating the USA.

He IS a top economic mind in this country, his views on the USA notwithstanding.

I see. I interpreted it as derision.
Few things are that simple anyway.

Not much to talk about, really. There's hardly any living memory remaining of those familial connections. When I was a kid it would come up sometimes when grandparents told me stories about our family roots.

Liberals lie. If they really wanted to fight racism, move into predominantly black neighborhoods and change them from within. Liberals care about things with other people’s money and complain about them behind the safety of a French Vanilla latte.

Earlier, cruder studies, done before direct genetic testing was feasible, suggested that African-Americans were 25 or even 30 percent white. Shriver’s project is not complete, but with data from 25 sites already in, he is coming up with 17-18 percent white ancestry among African-Americans. That’s the equivalent of 106 of those 128 of your ancestors from seven generations ago having been Africans and 22 Europeans.

I can’t imagine it as derision against America. If anything, it would be derision against those blacks that deride WASPs and call themselves African Americans...when they have essentially nothing in common with Africans beyond their skin color.
