Family: 'Strong possibility' missing woman left on her own

SAN ANTONIO — After two weeks of fruitless searching for Leanne Hecht Bearden, her family says evidence suggests “a strong possibility” that she disappeared on her own Jan. 17 from the Garden Ridge home of her in-laws.

That conclusion is based on accounts that Bearden, 33, was troubled before leaving the residence and on two reported sightings of her walking along FM 3009 toward Interstate 35 soon afterward.

“While those two witnesses are very credible, we are still exploring other possibilities,” Will Bearden, her father-in-law, said Thursday. “It's a hopeful sign. It's also a fearful sign.”

Extensive police searches around the Sumac Lane residence yielded no evidence of foul play but no sign of Leanne Bearden, who'd recently returned from an around-the-world trek with husband Josh Bearden and was briefly staying with his parents.

Charlie Parker, a private investigator hired by the family, said one person reported seeing Bearden walking briskly and wearing a pack. The pack and some nutrition bars were the only items discovered missing after Bearden vanished. She told her husband she was going on a one-hour walk.

Parker also said acquaintances who spoke to her that morning described her as troubled.

“The pressure of transitioning from her two-year trip back into what we consider 'normal' life seems to have left her very anxious and stressed,” the family said in a statement issued Thursday.

“If Leanne has indeed fled this area, she is extremely vulnerable. She left with only a few assets and is traveling very light.”

Authorities also are concerned by the lack of communication from Bearden, a petite woman, even if she left voluntarily....

If she left on her own she is very selfish. The family must be worried sick. This story reminds of the chic with the bug eyes who claimed she was kidnapped because she got cold feet at the altar.
Just the same, I hope she is found safe..

It’s sounding more and more like the parents got tired of funding her escapades and pulled the plug, and she threw a hissy fit.

Wouldn’t surprise me. I have known a few trustifarians who have gone off the rails when reality called.

She is an Aggie, and the husband posted on A&M boards when she first left. I’ve known about it hours after she left. Very strange.

She is a hugely SELFISH, self-centered person.
Taking off like that is a horrible thing to do: no explanation, just walk out the door. Think how many lives she affecting with her self-serving behavior.

Shows how little regard she had for ANYone else except herself, especially for those who love her.

She’s 33 years old. She can go wherever she wants to go without permission. She doesn’t owe anybody any explanation whatsoever.

Yes, she can. She has/had free will.
She broke the law and got ticked off because she got caught. THEN she STOLE the tow truck. She has the perfect right to be an arsehole. I hope she's as willing to pay the price for her tizzy fit...and that is EXACTLY what Miss Princess had...a princess temper tantrum.

It was also an INCREDIBLY stupid thing to do. Time for her to GROW up and take the consequences for her actions.

On December 11, 2002, two motorists called police to report seeing a car veering off the A3 trunk road with headlights blazing at Burpham in Surrey. A thorough search uncovered a car concealed in dense undergrowth and the long-dead driver nearby. It turned out that the crash had actually happened five months earlier when the driver, Christopher Chandler, had been reported missing by his brother.

“she was bound for glory, bound for living on the edge”.........

WHERE, o where is the "glory" of parking illegally?

"Living on the edge"?? Harhar. Stealing a tow truck because she was PISSED OFF isn't "living on the edge"; it a humongous temper tantrum showing ABSOLUTELY no regard for the tow truck, the tow truck driver, or HER car which will probably be damaged with the extra load AND the way she was driving.

When it comes time to pay up...WATCH, she will CRY and cry and cry. "Oh!! I am SOOOOOO sorry!" She will use all her feminine tricks: whining, crying and making excuses...for being a HUGE asshole.

She's not bound for glory; she bound for a very, very, very hard life if she doesn't GROW UP. For crying out loud she is THIRTY-THREE years old, not 15.

You seem to know enough details about her motivation. Will you feel bad if it turns out she was abducted or killed?

Yes.

Will YOU feel bad if she runs someone down because of her temper?
Or will you feel bad if she runs over a dog because she's having her tizzy fit and the dog was crossing the street too slowly?
Will you feel bad if she destroys property because she's ticked off and that bicycle was IN HER WAY?

I know temper tantrum when I see it. Hah, the entire planet saw her tizzy fit. WHAT a moron. To have so LITTLE control at 33 years old. I pity the people she lives with.

PUBLIC TEMPER TANTRUM for the entire planet to view.
Charming.

She was 100% wrong and didn't have the backbone, maturity or character to admit it.
There is NO defense for this.

At least the way the law used to be in many if not most jurisdictions, a married person leaving his/her spouse for an extended period of time can be sued in a divorce with abandonment. A 33 year old married person doesn’t require permission, but part of being a married adult also entails some thoughtfulness toward your spouse. Others knowing where you’re going and for how long is also for your own protection.

Legal or not, if she just took off voluntarily without explanation, at a minimum it’s rude and thoughtless. People tend to worry when someone says they’ll be gone a short while, then is missing for a long time. As I read the excerpt, she told her husband she was taking an hour’s walk. 2 weeks ago. So, if she is enjoying herself somewhere, as opposed to something sinister having happened to her, that’s pretty damned thoughtless, to the point of being cruel.

So you’re convinced she is selfish and also has a bad temper?

You know this because...?

FR is really going downhill

It’s almost as if he knew that she was missing before she was missing.

He said he knew she was missing when she didn’t come back from her walk after an hour.

Usually someone has to be missing 24 hours before the police get involved but he called the police 3 hours later.

2 days later they had her Facebook Page up and operating celebrating her missingness.

2 days after that and they had a professionally-done Website up announcing fundraisers celebrating her missingness.

3 days later they held a dance in Denver and fundraiser in Georgia to raise money for searches that cost them nothing because the taxpayer is paying for it and others donate their time free of charge.

Did you get this mixed up with the “angry chinese woman and the tow truck driver” thread.

The reference was about the woman who just went for a walk and disappeared....Neil Young’s, Bound for Glory......

Lol.
If FR is going so "downhill," why don't you leave?
