'Biggest cat I've ever seen,' as one animal control worker puts it, is now living at an Arizona animal shelter. Meatball is affectionate, but needs placement at an overweight animal facility and isn't eligible for adoption.
He arrived at the Arizona animal shelter after being shuffled from home to home, according to KTVK-TV in Phoenix.

He definitely needs a good home where they would take him for diagnosis and treatment of whatever things are wrong with him.
You’re right. Abuse can come in all forms — starvation, AND over-feeding. He looks like a beauty and hopefully, with proper care, will have a healthy long life.
Been on them for almost 2 years now. His dose has him in normal hormone range... gains weight.

Has he been checked for Cushing’s Disease? Even Thyroxin has no effect if that’s what it is.
As someone mentioned, he has what looks like a cataract in his eye. I had two kittehs that had eye problems but there's an awesome feline eye Doctor in town who helped both of our kittehs and one had had the problem for 6 months and the regular vet could do nothing and the eye actually looked abraded. A single drop of prednisolone twice daily cleared it up quickly and we just give him a drop a week to keep his eye healthy. I felt bad for the kitteh, I don't like when an eyelash is in my eye and he had to put up with a much worse problem for 6 months and it turned out to be an autoimmune problem.
I'd take this guy in a heartbeat.
He is just a little bit overweight.
I hear he has a great personality though.

He needs a very carefully managed weight loss plan. If cats lose weight too quickly, they can develop fatty liver disease. Fatty liver disease can be rapidly fatal.
Also, I wonder what is with the little fellow’s eye? Is that repairable?
He has quite a loud purr!
Did you notice how he was lying (rather possessively I might add) on his caretaker’s feet?
Regarding the eye looking cloudy I’ve seen kitties like that in the shelter. I was told it resulted from an eye infection which was cured and the cat can see just fine with it.

I didn’t notice his purr until you mentioned it and I went back to the video. I’ve got a kitteh with a loud purr and it’s awesome, it rocks me to sleep.
He’s definitely possessive. I’d take him in a heartbeat. The only problem is my dresser is next to my bed and my kitteh likes to jump from there to my chest when I’m sleeping. I can’t imagine a 36 pound kitteh plopping on my chest, I’d have a heart attack.
