Awake at 9am. Too early, but I woke up and couldn’t doze off again. Oh, well. I do this again tonight at 6pm, for my weekend shift. Done at 6pm Saturday.

The ER staff was amazing. The doc and staff continued to work the CPR for another half hour after we got him there. PEA was still present. The compassion was evident, from everyone involved. Some nights everything is done, things go smoothly, yet the outcome is preordained to be bad.
And that’s all we can do, is our best. It makes it easier to deal with the outcome over time.
Try and grab a nap this afternoon.
Listen, I’m not invested in this argument. What ti says makes intuitive sense to me. If that’s her department’s policy, if that’s what they designate on the death certificate as cause of death I assume it’s been signed off on by whatever policy maker.
Honesty is best. Our trainer is a paramedic who teaches at the local college. He taught us that the word “overdose” is a misnomer and confuses folks. ANY dose of heroin or cocaine can kill the first time it’s taken. People need to know the illegal street products can be cut with anything. Meth is notorious for the crap in it. All of it is deadly, that is WHY it is illegal. Take that stuff and risk your life every time. That is the message.
I think that is largely nonsense.
Dinner was fun last night. The DJ is a family friend who has both a sports announcing and DJ biz. He does music at Caps games, is a hockey ref (has actually put the groom in the sin bin during beer league games) and announced the gonzaga hockey games. He is a WEALTH of wedding knowledge from his own and the other weddings he’s done. One invaluable suggestion was to make sure ANCC has a room for the bridal couple to relax and eat in after pix during the cocktail hour and before launching into the full reception. He’s perfect also for figuring out the timing of things like my nephew the concert pianist to play a selection for the bride and groom and to show the video xsbaby is making for the occasion in lieu of a maid of honor toast. He’s also willing to accommodate xshub who wants to take over DJ duties for a set since he’s obsessed with EDM. That prospect is terrifying to the rest of us but as the person stroking the check we can’t really prohibit it! Do you remember Rony Seikely? Former SU bball player, Miami heat, son of a Greek oil tycoon? He’s currently a dj in Miami. Xshub would love that gig . It’s horrifying !! LOL!
Our youngest was shocked to find out her dad was a DJ in college. She thought it was the coolest thing. We have several friends who have done that earlier in life, for weddings and parties and never would have guessed if they hadn’t told us.
It will be memorable. LOL Sounds like this is a happy time for all of you. I am happy to share the process with you.
