EVERETT, Wash. —

Police said a man attacking women at an apartment complex in Bothell pulled a sword on his latest victim.

For the second time in three weeks, officers were called to the complex on the Bothell-Everett Highway to arrest 21-year-old Johnathan Arnold.

In court papers, deputies pleaded with the judge to keep Arnold locked up this time saying he “is causing young innocent females to live in fear of their lives, he is showing a pattern and is increasing his level of dangerousness."

"I've never felt threatened here - ever. And I walk this way. This is my path!" said Ruth Green, who walks her dogs in the same area where Arnold allegedly came up behind a woman and her dog Wednesday night.

Police said he pulled an 18-inch sword out of his sweatshirt and threatened to chop her dog’s head off. The victim ran to the complex’s gym and called 911.

"I have a girlfriend I live with right now. This is kind of scary for her," said Connor Milne, who lives in the complex.

Police first arrested Arnold after a woman reported he groped her at the gym. The officers who responded said Arnold threatened them with a hammer.

Arnold doesn’t have a criminal history. Bail was set and he was released. Despite the officers' recent plea, a judge set his bail at only $50,000 for the latest charge.

"He's a nut job," said Leslie Wilcox, who lives in the victim’s building. She said management hasn’t said a word about the attacks.

"I wish my complex had said something, then I would keep my eyes open but I haven't heard anything about this," said Wilcox.

Maybe it’s a Ginsu? They can go from lopping off Fido’s head to cutting a tomato into paper thin slices.

I just don't see myself saying those words. A real boyfriend or husband would say, "Get this freak out of circulation or he's going to end up dead."

At least now, the public knows who he is and what he looks like. I don’t think he will be playing this little game much longer. Something is rotten with that judge, or he’s in P.C. type denial.

If going to the dentist is not intimidating enough:

In 2012 a local dentist threatened a patient and his mother with a sword. He committed several other assaults on his girlfriend and held a knife to the throat of an assistant.

Sadly, last fall he was found dead. It is suspected that he was partaking of the intoxicants used in his clinic.

Thanks for posting. I live in Snohomish co. and hadn’t noticed it in the local paper. But the carrier hasn’t brought today’s up yet because the elevator is out of order, probably.

When the law no longer protects the citizenry from criminals, or worse, takes the side of criminals against honest citizens, it leaves them no choice but to protect themselves.

In this case, this individual appears to be an imminent threat to his neighborhood, and the assessment is correct, that he is getting more violent and dangerous. At the next encounter the odds are high that he will attempt to harm or even kill.

Thus, the only sane response is for these people to arm themselves, and to be prepared to use those arms to injurious or lethal effect, if he assails them.

Broad axe?
