A German lottery winner claims she flushed her entire €400,000 winnings down the TOILET.
Angela Maier insists she did so to prevent the money being used to pay care home bills for her late husband.
Shortly after learning of her win Maier got the demand to stump up the money owed for the home that cared for her spouse before he died.
On the day in question she says she had drunk five bottles of champagne.
And in her drunken state she tore up all 800 of the €500 notes and flushed them down the toilet to stop it being used for the medical bills.
As a result, she claimed she didn't any money left to compensate the care home.
The court heard that it wasn't technically illegal to have destroyed the money.
But it was ruled that only an expert would be able to decide whether Maier was actually telling the truth, something the court suggested was more effort than it was worth.
Maier agreed to pay €4,000 (£3,310) in compensation to settle the case.

If she is that much of a drunk, she probably did herself a favor. She probably would have spent the money on booze and drugs if she had kept it.

Yep. Why should she pay for something that is “free”?
That’s nothing. We have a President who flushes trillions down the toilet on a regular basis. He claims it’s stimulating.
I'm betting that she did keep the money, all of it. It's probably stuffed in a suitcase, then hidden in the attic, or something like that.
The story she told was just to get out of paying her husband's medical bills. Now that she's "broke", the state will pick up the tab.

Hahah, close to that WC Fields quote that goes something like this: when asked what do you do with all your money, he said “I spend half of it on booze and women, and I waste the other half!”
No way was that money flushed down the toilet. People are so gullible.
