A head-to-head race with a 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 reveals that the executive sedan's performance — as well as its powertrain — is electric.
On paper there shouldn't be any doubt. The current Corvette is one of the fastest homegrown production cars currently on sale in the US. It boasts a 0-60mph (100km/h) time of 3.8 seconds and over 400hp on tap for when needs arise.

That’s a nonsense article. Electric cars have been quicker off the line for ages, but they just are not practical for racing in general, never mind daily driving. There was a time when steam cars were way quicker off the line than internal-combustion-engine cars as well, but that doesn’t mean we ought to call for a return to steam automobiles.
I’ll bet my poodle is quicker off the line (for a foot or so), too.
If you watch the Christmas tree on the first race, the tesla leaves on the last yellow and the Vette leaves on the green. Towards the end of the 1/4 it’s pretty clear the Vette is really starting to pull. So, if the tesla left early on the first run and beat the Vette by .237 and on the second run the Vette beat the tesla by .774(?), sounds to me like the Vette won both races. But the tesla may burst in to flames quicker.
I like the idea myself. A wood pellet stove engine might be just the ticket.

The qtr. mile was close. The 1 mile the vette won by 1/2 hour.
Pretty impressive for an electric car though. Can I go for a test drive?
Which one wins in having to be propped up with tax dollars? It is a tie.
Don’t know if wood pellets work with flash boilers. I’ll have to look into that.
The last steam cars produced could get up to working pressure from cold in about five minutes. They seemed like impressive machines to me. You refueled at the gas station just like with the internal-combustion cars because they mostly burned gasoline as fuel. No transmission (just valve gear), but you had a lot of low-end torque and could accelerate pretty rapidly from a stop.
What was the ET? That tells us who got there faster..not who finished at the line first.
For 90 grand, that Tesla should be able to do at least one thing that’s impressive.

From what I have read, they simply let the pilot on all night and kept the thing warm It could even be quick coupled to your heat in the house to supplement the heat. Simple as there was only about a few moving parts since the thing was nearly direct drive. The engine was the brake etc.

Please explain to me how the lower ET doesn't cross the line first every time if they both start together.
