Philip Seymour Hoffman dead at age 46

NEW YORK - Philip Seymour Hoffman, who won the Oscar for best actor in 2006 for his portrayal of writer Truman Capote in "Capote" and created a gallery of other vivid characters, many of them slovenly and slightly dissipated comic figures, was found dead Sunday in his Greenwich Village apartment. He was 46 years old, and leaves behind a longtime partner, Mimi O’Donnell, and three children.

While the cause of death has not been made official, a drug overdose is believed to be responsible. Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment after a 911 emergency call from a friend of his, according to law enforcement sources. Hoffman was supposed to be somewhere this morning and when he did not show up the associate apparently went to Hoffman's apartment when he was discovered.

Heroin and Fentanyl. Many times as powerful as straight heroin. Many have died of accidental overdoses in Pittsburg and Cleveland and other cities.

Actually heroin has more in common with liquor than marijuana dear.

I have known hundreds if not 1000 people in my 57 years who have smoked ganja

I don’t know any of them who have become heroin addicts...not one.

I don’t know any heroin addicts period but I do know both alkies and potheads but I will bet that as heroin users have drank alcohol as smoked marijuana.

I can also attest that if they can’t get heroin and feel sick they will reach for hard liquor much quicker than a joint given alcohol numbs more like opiates do.

Marijuana simply doesn’t do that
