Groundbreaking new corporate campus is altering landscape for northern suburbs
Construction cranes clustered alongside Interstate 45 at the Hardy Toll Road carve a startling,
wide swath through the trees just south of The Woodlands....
Come next year, this will be home to some 10,000 people who work for Exxon Mobil Corp.,
which is building a campus the size of a small city on 385 forested acres north of Houston....
No less than 20 buildings are underway at the energy giant's future home, a real estate development
thought to be the largest in the country.....

They needed to get out of those decrepit facilities downtown on Bell Street.
One thing Texas does very well is plan ahead for highways. The Grand Parkway will help reduce traffic congestion on many other highways.

Exxon Mobil Corp. is transferring about 2,000 workers from out of state. Most of
those employees will come from the company’s offices in Fairfax, Va. About 8,000
are being consolidated from Houston-area buildings.
There are relatives on both sides of the henkster family in Houston. We were there three times last year alone. Houston is interesting; you can see the development of the city in the various bursts in construction activity that corresponds with the boom cycles; the late 60s-early 70s, the mid 80s, and now.
Houston is definitely booming, and it looks good for at least the next 10 years as the oil and gas boom in the Eagle Ford Shale fuels the growth in the petrochemical industry.
I’m not sure what stage the Grand Parkway is in regarding the northern sections.
I know that some others have been completed. One problem up that way is I-45
which has been widened but is still very crowded during peak hours.
I live just North of the Woodlands and the growth in this entire area is jaw dropping.
I just hope I can finish up and get the hell out of Dodge and sell the house before this boom ends.
I promised God if He’d give us just one more boom I’d try not to screw this one up.
The economy and the stock market on the other hand. Well, brace yourselves for a bleak year. obastar’s policies are going to settle in an roost this year I’m afraid.
Part of the problem going north on I-45 is that it goes from 4-5 lanes to two in a relatively short distance. Once the construction finishes up on I-45, it should get much better.

No; but I’ve talked to several developer sales people who told the same stories over and over.
The rate things are going, the DFW Metroplex and the Houston exurbs are going to merge.
Yep they be expanding for sure. But you still have a lot of
open area from south of Ennis to north of Huntsville.
Well pretty much DFW/Waco/Georgetown/Austin/San Antonio are all merging together as well.
