LONDON — Fashion icon Kate Middleton won’t be having anymore wardrobe malfunctions if Queen Elizabeth has her way.
According to The Mail on Sunday, the queen has ordered the Duchess of Cambridge to wear lower hemlines during a 3½-week trip to Australia this spring.
The royal makeover won’t just focus on toning down Kate’s leggy style. The duchess also will wear more tiaras and statement jewelry “favored by the Queen and Queen Mother,” the Mail reported.

Kate knew what she was signing up for. I suspect she has enough style to look impressive even if the skirts are longer and she’s wearing a tiara.

I am glad this article was posted. It reminded me how little I care about the queen and her entire inbred clan. Isn’t it about time for a replay of Di’s funeral?

I doubt that any such directive was given, and I doubt Kate changes her style much.
She dresses well, she seems like a great person, and she has nice legs.
Just because a few creepy paparazzi like to stage such photos on windy days, it’s no reason to blame Kate.

This is not without precedent. King George V (Queen Elizabeth’s grandfather) ordered the Labor government’s members — including the Prime Minister — not to attend court unless dressed in appropriate day-formal wear. They were required to wear black ties and a jacket or the King would refuse to receive them.
I’m hoping the Duchess of Cambridge will take these sartorial rules with her usual modesty and accede to the Queen’s authority on such matters.
Those bikinis will probably become a thing of the past too. But after the baby, maybe it will be a relief not to have to be bikini perfect for the vicious tabloid press. Still, it will be tough to visit Australia in what is probably late summer and not go native like an Aussie.
I would hate having a frumpy grandmother in law telling me how to dress, but it takes the focus off Harry
Tiaras aren’t necessarily classy. Courteney Love wore one. Honey BooBoo probably does too.
