The American media is having a field day today mocking the Russians for some supposedly inadequate hotel accommodations....the proof for this is whining on Twitter.
My suspicion is that the media has decided to AMPLIFY the complaints...which may be legitimate....merely to cast a pall on Putin's games.
Consider: The entire Western media, along with Team Obama hates the unanimous decision of the Russian parliament to keep sodomite propaganda away from children. Yet they have to cover the story in a reasonable manner without risking getting the boot.
I believe it is VERY FEASIBLE to that efforts are being made to create bad images from Russia....even though that is contrary to the full picture.
I think you do not go to a developing country (and yeah, this is a fairly backward region of the former USSR, so it is pretty third-world) and expect that everything is going to be up to the standards of the Waldorf Astoria.
Nor do I think it is good manners or diplomacy to start dumping on such people because their hospitality does not measure up to your spoiled, coddled standards.
My well water in Michigan was worse.
All the blondes in town were redheads.
Nope, not overblown. we had to go to Sochi last year, and the venues and hotel we were around were definatly not ready for prime time. Unfortunately we are (supposedly) racing there this summer, here’s to hoping everyone comes to their senses and cancels the race there.
Maybe I shouldn’t ask what that last one is.
Who’s to say the yellow water really came out of the faucet or is water.
I agree 100%.
They're calling them poo-tins.

This same media MISSED the communists killing 10’s of millions of people so maybe they are making up for it in a very very very small way.....
Our criminals (Congress) wear nicer suits than their criminals ( Russian IOC members)
I think there were problems with the venue, but that said I think there is a concerted effort by the US Government and its pimps and pimpettes in the MSM. This action is in revenge for Snowden and the anti-pedophile stances of Russia. The bombs in the toothpaste was in response to the 30 minute interview with Snowden a couple of days ago where he outlined the plans of several US agencies to assassinate him.
yeah, i saw that on ONE story...like I say, I wouldn’t put it past the media to MAKE UP most of this stuff.
Dear MSM,
What you are experiencing at Sochi in regards to the accommodations are glitches.
What Americans are experiencing in regards to their health care are major life events.
Understand the difference?
Now suck it up buttercup, you have games to report on. And be thankful that the games arent being held in Mogadishu.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Surveillance cameras in Hotel bathrooms.
If I ever have to stay at a Hotel in Russia, I’m bringing a can of spray-paint with me. Along with a few rolls of TP.
I got violently ill in a foreign country, thankfully, I was on my way home at the time, dr. said it was most likely food poisoning, took 6 weeks to recover, my cousin ended up hospitalized. Never forgotten it - and it's kept me home for the past decade.
Without being there, it would be a hard one to call. We did humanitarian work in Belarus five summers in a row. Being a nurse, they took us to all the local “hospitals” and clinics, orphanages, etc, and showed us where our three 40 FT containers of goods and 10 portable EKG machines had gone. One hospital was in the process of being built that first summer.
Two summers later we got to see the finished product. Amazing! It looked as though it was built in the early 1900s, had cracks in the wall, ceilings, and floor...already, and they showed us a ROOM full of new equipment that did not work out of the box. It was like going back in time. The year was 1998. I know it was still only a few years after the wall came down and the East opened up.
If you recall an article last week, the Indians (country, not native American) had decided they wanted to return the fighter jets they’d purchased from Russia. One can only wonder how many of them actually worked and worked reliably well for actual use.
The media is made up mostly of spoiled pampered wusses, and then add on top of that the fact that they all hate Putin because he hasn’t jumped onto their pro-gay bandwagon.. and voila... they have an agenda.
I don’t think so. After all, the followers of Miraji Desai (former Prime Minister of India) are signing up in droves for the “yellow water” to drink.
No doubt there were screwups... but we didn’t hear about them at Lake Placid. The massive amount of construction took seven years and I’d be amazed if a few things weren’t finished on time.
From what I’ve seen, every one looks happy and people are thrilled! Our own state-run media is far worse than the old Soviet Pravda.
