You are using wise tactics there-in the run-up to the cub’s wedding, I studiously ignored all arguments between bridesmaids, shower-givers and the rest, and just attended to keeping bridezilla on a short leash, and doing the stuff I’d agreed to be responsible for-worked out much better that way...
not necessarily, and not when the MOH is a 19 yo unemployed college student who cannot drive aka xsbaby. if you have a sister, she is likely going to be the MOH, regardless of age. xsbaby is not the best suited to organize this, but she is making her opinion heard to the group about what she thinks her sister would want, which is for everyone to get along and not so much THE BEST SHOWER ever. If you are having all friends as bridesmaids, i guess maybe you would pick the one best suited to organizing things as the MOH and hope that she would do a nice job of it. I think Megan and Colleen are perfectly competent to host this, but their interpersonal skills leave a lot to be desired.
ebay scares me but i do think you can get great deals. sounds like you are cleaning UP in the spoke market there.

LMAO! Melanie the engineer is on record as wanting to elope, when it’s her turn, after these last few days and she also remarked how she is glad she works with all men. i told her i understand perfectly.
xsteen is the least bridezilla bride on the planet. as xsbaby pointed out, she’d be happy with a few chickfila platters at someone’s house! she LOVES chickfila. the drama is from her friends who want to do the PERFECT shower for her, meaning what they consider the perfect shower, and what they would want.
you see why that’s not the answer in this case?
In my day, they called it “Tea Length” and it was favored for morning, or afternoon, weddings. I think that it was a fad that lasted only a few years in the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. “Formals” were ankle length during that same time period.

I’ve avoided E-Bay all these years, so this is my first experience. So far, it’s been terrific. Easy to understand and to “play”. The other day I ordered a gravy boat from Canada. I had deliberately avoided all sellers from out of the country because I did not want to get involved with customs and high shipping costs.
The piece just showed up in my mail, and it was BEAUTIFUL — much grander than I had anticipated. And no extra charges and no problems with duty and/or exchange rate. The Ontario seller says that most of their business is in the US.
I find that you have to be careful with Spode, since it is English in origin. So, there are lots of sellers from the UK, Canada, and Australia. I might not have it so easy from other places. Also, there are US dealers who advertise on UK E-Bay. They quote in pounds, but ship from the US.
Anyway, description is important. You can email the seller with questions before the auction is over, and they answer. I’m not ready to start selling on E-Bay, although I have enough stuff that I could.
well you seem to have jumped in the buying aspect with both feet, so maybe you will feel up to selling sometime soon as well. good to know that international sales are not any more complicated.

The cub did have 2 bridezilla moments-the one where the bakery had put the groom’s x’s name on the cake instead of hers I thought she handled very well-we were able to just pry that ribbon off and toss it, re-arrange the flowers on the top layer, and no one the wiser...
The other-involving her being in line with her material and trims for her wedding dress in the fabric shop when a fire broke out next door was a little wilder, but if I’d been there that would not have gotten out of hand, either.
i remember the fire! i’m sure she will get wired more as time goes on, but for now, she’s just efficiently checking stuff off the list of what needs to be done. she is a list maker and checker-offer, like her dad.

My best friend was my Matron of Honor and I was her maid of honor. I didn’t throw a single gift grab for her. Her mother’s friends did that. We were still in college at the time. My sister was a bridesmaid and my mother was ticked about it but it was my wedding, not hers.
