A cat that was shot 17 times in the head in Sarnia, Ont., is now recovering after surgery.
The cat named Joe had several hours of surgery on Thursday to remove the pellets, according to Donna Pyette, a manager with the Sarnia and District Humane Society.
"The surgery lasted a few hours," said Pyette in an email to CBC Windsor. "He did lose the eye we had suspected he would lose. However, he is now resting comfortably and [is] expected to continue to improve over the next few days."

While I am not a big cat fan, I would not be saddened if whoever did this got the same treatment. If something like this happened to either of my dogs, I would have a hard time leaving the vengeance to the Lord.
Yeah people are animals.

Given the psychological indicators involved with this kind of behavior, they certainly will, eventually. It’s too bad they will do a lot of harm before then.

I would definitely go Samuel L. Jackson (as in Pulp Fiction), as an instrument of the Lord.
Anyone capable of doing this for fun to a defenseless animal, needs to be removed from the living.
It’s really not an issue if you like cats, or any particular animal, or not. It’s an issue of wanton cruelty. Someone who could do this to an animal would likely do this to an innocent human, if they could get away with it.
In the case of vengence for a sick act like this on a little animal, I would ask the Lord to subcontract it to me.
People that hurt dogs, cats, any small animal for a sado-masochistic pleasure have no place on this Earth.

apropos of nothin years back a neighbor was experiencing a huge influx of ground squirrels
the badgers were coming in to dig out the squirrels and the resultant holes were causing leg breaks (when they stepped in the badger holes) in his livestock
he was resolved to poison the squirrels but the collateral damage to other species would have been too much so my brother and i offered to shoot them instead
spent many long hours on the "range" and logged hundreds of kills

Whoever did this was a monster. Even animals take care of their own. I cannot go on further without getting upset.
Sick. I hope they catch this person but I wonder what the law can do? Cruelty to animals, I’m not familiar with the laws and penalties.

Damned sadistic jerk didn’t even use a large enough pellet gun to kill a caged cat.
I’m sorry but I wish this poor creature would have been euthanized.........It shouldn’t have to endure the weeks and likely months of pain that it’s going to experience.
