Storyleak: A man who fled Cuba’s communist regime in the 1960s blasted Oregon lawmakers Thursday during a public hearing on proposed gun control legislation. Manuel Martinez, who narrowly escaped Cuba in 1962 after being imprisoned for opposing Fidel Castro, passionately defended the Second Amendment in front of Oregon’s Senate Judiciary Committee, comparing the state’s attempts to pass gun control to moves made by his former government.
“Don’t sell me this. A very powerful man tried to sell me this 50-something years ago, I didn’t buy it,” Martinez said. “This is Marxism, plain and clear.”

It’s always telling to hear the refugees or survivors of tyrranical regimes decrying the rapid erosion of our liberties; as they have seen it before. Yet many, if not most Americans are more than willing to put their trust into an intellectual elite to make laws governing commerce while few if any of that elite have even a days experience in the private sector. Likewise, those same gullible Americans are willing to their trust in lawmakers who consistently demonstrate full-on ignorance of the Constitution; unless, that is, something they are considering prevents them from aborting their children.
Pathetic when a Cuban immigrant has to tell American State legislators what freedom and government suppression is all about. Hat’s off to him and his passion.

There is NO ONE in Oregon clamoring for gun control. Except the useless jerks in Salem. It is a shall issue state and the local sheriffs refuse to share the data with anyone. You’re allowed to carry on schools, and no city is allowed to pre-empt the state constitution and enact their own gun ordinances. Blood is not flowing through the streets and there aren’t mass shootings over parking lots.
