I think all Brits are obsessed with being as historically accurate as possible-which is why I like their books and shows about bygone times-I’m not really into magic tricks and dragons with history.

Do you like Bernard Cornwell? Most of his books are based on historical fact, and he adds a little known historical character whose biography he has filled out as a narrator-the ones I’m reading now-a series about the times of Alfred the Great-have pages at the end explaining the events portrayed in the book, every place the author has deviated from the facts, and why he did so-talk about pedantic...

My brother has recommended Cornwall in the past. I’m a little more than halfway thru another tour of the O’Brian series; when this is over Cornwall it is. Thanks!

I thought it was Taco Tuesday?

The sign at Del Taco was in English?

Loved Kirk Douglas in that movie....

The ‘ones that fight back’ comment, is another you could never get away with in this day and age,

I’d be more likely to say bigtime bank and art thieves, with human trafficking, hostage taking and some legitimate trade for additional income-I never heard they sold drugs-just illegally acquired money, people and stuff...

Sharing, sometimes....has the same effect as complaining.

Many, see it that way, that’s all I am saying.

Like in my case..my dad’s apparent illness put people thru a wringer , for 8 months.

My FiL otoh, went three years without alarming a soul till he was at the end.

I just think, the other people, are a secondary consideration....unless said person is neglecting medical help.

What do you mean by “put people through a wringer”? Were they sad? Did they comfort him?

It is-sort of-
A couple weeks ago, I decided to listen carefully, and managed to jot down the first couple of lines of what I think I heard that makes any sense-dame tu amor, tu corazon enchapado (sp-encased?) en oro, hazme volar quiero pero en tu avion, quiero ser la reina de Miami-you queiro lo mismo, blah, blah-I gave up after that-it is just too fast and whiny to follow.

I can’t vouch for the spelling, either-I’m not good at writing any language but English.

Of course, which was my point all along.

When everyone knows, they ride the emotional roller coaster.....

My point all along,

Were there such a thing to sell, and profit from, do you think they would not?

So you don’t feel a father or grandfather of a family is allowed to have his family spend time with him as he dies? Keeping secrets and hiding illnesses is not a family trait, it is a selfish hoarding of information that affects the entire family. It is the ultimate control issue and I just find it to be selfish, not in the least stoic.

Not unless there was a way for them to steal it from some labs-I doubt they’d make it themselves. I’ve never heard that they dealt/traded in opium, and they certainly sailed and traded where that was available. They were said to trade wine they got from frankia/france and uisge from Scotland, but they liked that stuff, too.
