There are always stories of “special needs” kids who are given 30 seconds after serving the team for years, and proceed to kick butt.
I played with a guy who had Downs Syndrome. Nobody would pick him in pickup basketball at our local gym. I picked him every time. He had about a 90% 3 point shot rate. No kidding. He stood on the same spot, did the same motion, EVERY time. I would feed him the ball after going inside. The first few times he made the three, the opponents would roll their eyes. They they would try to block. It didn’t work, you had to knock the ball out of his hand or he would make it.
I think we should let some of these guys o the “regular” teams at school. If they can’t hack it, bench them.....But I KNOW they can....
