I don't think will work in this case.

Jason Collins didn't exactly have much interest shown in him by ANY NBA team. And he had already been in the league 13 years.

Sam hasn't even MADE it to the NFL.

Had he made it, and was a good player, maybe a few years down the road, this would have some currency.

Right now the collective media handsprings over this is REALLY turning people off.

A backlash is long overdue.
