Here's a little bio on Parise:

Parise has been a constant in international competition for Team USA since he was a teenager, including a memorable moment in 2010. He has been named captain for this squad after being an alternate captain on the silver-medal team in Vancouver. Parise’s goal with 24 seconds remaining in regulation against Canada four years ago sent the thrilling contest into overtime before the American's lost 3-2 on Sidney Crosby's goal. Parise finished the tournament with four goals and four assists in six contests, giving him 16 goals and 12 assists for Team USA dating back to his time with the U-18 squad in 2002. He also played in two world junior championships and three worlds tournaments before being named an All-Star selection in Vancouver. Parise is a five-time 30-goal scorer in eight-plus NHL seasons with New Jersey and Minnesota, where he's played the last two campaigns with a fellow U.S. teammate, star defenseman Ryan Suter.

Yay for the NHL players!!! Down with the NBA snobs. Gotta love the hockey mentality. They give everything for their teammates in the game and the shirt off their backs to anyone else. NBA stars? Um, not so much.

Hockey, hockey...that’s the one where when they score the players kiss one another, right? Oh, wait, no, that’s soccer. Hockey is the one where when they score they PUNCH one another. Got it. BTT

The “posh lodgings” were reportedly less than 2 miles from a disputed border with the Republic of Georgia.

Parise is on my fantasy hockey team. Unfortunately, I’m not getting any fantasy points for Olympic performance.

Now they need to put a few holes in the team bus to "Make It Look Mean."

This is really quite easy to understand. One only has to look at the number of condoms used in the typical Olympic village. You’re going to be surrounded by women all over the world in top athletic form... Sign me up for that squalor any day!!!

The IOC screwed up the olympics and destroyed the essence of the games when they allowed NBA players. They've now done the same thing to hockey..............

Olympic hockey is nothing more than NHL players returning home to form an all star team and hitting the olympic ice........

And the problem is as a Dallas Stars fan, my only hope is that Jamie Benn and Lehtonen make it through without getting hurt.

A lot of NHL players from other nations are staying in the village...even saw a photo of Henrik Lundquist in his Sochi Oly Village room...my Army barracks 25 yrs ago was more lavishly furnished.

I like the NHL more than NBA for reasons such as this. Though, wonder if they can find a bed long enough for Zdeno Chara ;)

The IOC let in the NBA because the Red Army hockey team were their pros.

Olympic hockey, and other sports, lose something when professionals were allowed to play. At least in my book.

Well all the other Olympians became professionals too, so the concept of “amateur” is pretty much relegated to history.

I'm aware of that and it changed the face of olympic basketball and hockey for the worse..........

If I want to see a conglomeration of international hockey and basketball players, I'll watch the NBA and NHL all star games..........but not in the olympics.

Oh, I understand it. I just think, with the advent of professionals, the spirit of the games is lost. I mean, that’s what made the 1980 hockey win so amazing. Amateurs/ college kids against the Russian pros and winning gold.
