A massive search was conducted after she went missing by both professionals and volunteers covering the area so extensively with helicopters, canine teams, etc that LEO concluded that she was not in the Garden Ridge area.
Then the body shows up a short distance from the home in a neighborhood that searchers understood had already been covered by the family.
Someone has some explaining to do --
Even if the area had already been covered by the family, wouldn’t it have been prudent to check again? A presumably distraught family member may not notice every clue.
Sounds like the poor woman got the Vince Foster treatment. Killed elsewhere and the body was then moved.
have you ever found yourself standing in the bathroom looking for the comb that is in your hand
Something smells here. She goes off BY Herself on a TWO YEAR around the world trip. Then she comes back and goes for a walk and gets killed. My guess is that she and hubby had a big argument and he did her in. This marriage couldn’t have been on solid grounds when she goes on a 2 year jaunt by herself.
Given the way many of these turn out, places searched by the family should be the FIRST place searchers look. I'd say the PD has some s'plaining to do too.
We had an elderly lady with Alzheimer’s go missing just down the street from me this past fall. They organized a massive search with dogs, helicopters with infrared, ATV’s, etc. She was found alive 3 days later 300 feet from her house in the woods caught in a barbed wire fence where she had been the whole time.
Smell???
I read about her missing but forget what countries she and her husband visited.......but pretty ironic that she travels the world and ends up dead after going for a little walk.
Perhaps suspicious is the word I am looking for rather than ironic.
this would have been a done deal if they had used search raccoons instead of search dogs
RIP.
Some history from articles at the time of going missing.

What we’re all thinking is that she just went on a walk to clear her head, to think about things,
but it does seem out of character for her to run off because she just doesn’t want to disappoint
anybody, Rebekah Sculley, the missing
woman’s sister-in-law, said Monday. She’s just a family pleaser. She wouldn’t want to cause
anybody trouble.

Leanne Bearden was having some difficulties adjusting after the worldwide excursion, according
to her sister-in-law.
It was kind of a hard transition for her, so she’s having some anxiety about it, but nothing
that seemed like she was just going to run off, Sculley said.

Leanne Bearden and her husband were the only people in the house around 1 p.m. Friday when she said
she was going for a walk, Sculley said. Josh Bearden called police four hours later to report his
wife had not returned, Sculley said.
