Being gay may be in the DNA, researchers say

Researchers say they’ve found more DNA evidence that possibly shows gay men don’t have a choice — that their biological makeup drives them to homosexuality.

In a study at Chicago University, researchers looked at DNA chains of 400-plus pairs of gay brothers and found what they said were two distinct bits of genetic material that they claim are linked to homosexuality, The Daily Mail reported.

The gay brothers were identified and recruited to help with the study over the course of several years’ worth of Gay Pride festivals and marches.

The research was highlighted during the recent annual American Association for the Advancement of Science conference. Researchers don’t know which of the specific genes in the two links of DNA are key to the formation and development of sexual orientation, The Daily Mail reported. But they say their findings add to a 1993 study that identified a supposed “gay gene,” a widely contested announcement that was later mocked when other scientists said they could not find any genetic link that backed that claim.

Still, researchers are saying this latest DNA evidence is ground-breaking and significant.

Dr. Michael Bailey from Northwestern University in Illinois is already concluding, The Daily Mail reported:

“Sexual orientation has nothing to do with choice. Our findings suggest there may be genes at play — we found evidence for two sets that affect whether a man is gay or straight.”

But he also added this caveat, The Daily Mail said: “Although this [finding] could one day lead to a prenatal test for male sexual orientation, it would not be very accurate, as there are other factors that can influence the outcome.”

It is the Holy Grail of the homosexual lobby.

After all, if you cannot help your behavior, how could you possibly be stigmatized for it, no matter what that behavior is?

Born that way, with makeup and everything?

Was his mama frightened by a clown while she was pregnant?

I can’t wait for the battle between the abortionist and gays. If this is true then there will be pre-natal testing. Just as with Downs Syndrome abortions parents will want to abort future gays.

So the Twins where one is gay and the other isn’t don’t come into play here?

This is science folks. If one valid result doesn’t fit your thesis, then your thesis is garbage.

If true, churches could do genetic screening before hiring someone to be a priest/pastor.

It’s all a red herring anyway. Just something to convince fence sitters to accept homosexuality “they can’t help it!”.

Sex positive agenda proponents don’t care WHAT causes it, they just want to see an end to ALL moral judgments of ANY kind regardless of sex, age, relation, marital status, number, or species of partner(s).

Snash monogamy and smash the patriarchy are their goals.

Look at this verbiage:

"...Sexual orientation has nothing to do with choice. Our findings suggest there may be genes at play..."

A declaration of fact, followed by a "suggest" statement.

This sounds a lot like the language used by the global warming crowd, doesn't it?

Rush invented ‘the gay gene theory’ long ago.

Homosexuality is a mental disorder. The only question left to be answered: Can this disorder be cured and, if so, how?

Being gay is no more a genetic trait than is my preference for white and Asian women.

Agreed.

But I don’t see this type of thing as a red herring, though, because it applies to a lot of things that liberals seek to destigmatize.

“Convicted of a felony? Not your fault, you have a genetic marker for crime. You should get your voting rights back.”

“Addicted to, or caught using (INSERT DRUG HERE)? Not your fault. You have a genetic marker for that. You shouldn’t lose your job for drinking at work.”

“Didn’t get that job? Not your fault, you have a genetic marker for mental impairment. You will be part of a program that ensures you should go to the front of the line when applying for a job, regardless of how well you interviewed or did on the test.”

DeBlasio’s wife was “born” homosexual but has chosen heterosexual behavior. Do these genes allow for all 58 gender permutations as listed in Facebook, or are the scientists displaying quaternary bias?

I thought that statement by Obadiah was pretty clear.

Right up there with global warming advocacy. Junk science being used to foice a political view.

I agree with Obadiah, I see it the same way.

I’d be willing to bet that there are many with this same gene sequence that have chosen a heterosexual lifestyle, and conversely, there will be those who do not have the sequence but have embraced the gay lifestyle.

This could be a lose-lose for the gay community.

And why do pairs of identical twins not always have the same “orientation?”

My understanding from another Freeper reporting on another thread today is that studies of twins where at least one is gay find that the other is 25 times more likely to be gay than otherwise would be expected.

Homosexuals just became the newest, wealthiest and most influential pro lifers in history. What is the Left going to do? If you find out your carrying a homosexual child and can abort it who side does the Left support, a women’s right to choose or the homosexuals right to live.
