With Obama as President, I’m reluctant to remember the day as well.
What I would expect from Google would be a picture of Sally Hemings.
I like the Bing photo. Its an unfamiliar angle of Mount Rushmore.
You know what makes me sad?
YOU DO!
I feel somewhat vindicated by this. Last year when Google had Caesar Chavez’ picture up on Easter, I vowed never again to use Google and switched to Bing. I know not of their leanings, but regardless, at least they seem to get the holidays right. Also, it works fine when I need to do a search.
I only use bing and I like it. They’ve also had very nice pictures on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, Christmas, etc.
I like that it can be educational, too - learning experience clicking on the little squares in the picture. One thing I didn’t know that my young nephew taught me - you can scroll back with the arrow (never looked down there until he told me) to see pictures you’ve missed (lower right side). They had what I thought was a cool one of the Beatles last week (but then I like a lot, though not all, of the Beatles music).
I sent an email to a contact on the bing website 1 time (think it was on a Veteran’s or Memorial Day) thanking them for the picture, think I’ll do so again today.
Read a tweet : spending Presidents Day with Barack Obama as president is like spending Christmas with a raging athiest.
We used to have two Presidential holidays in February.
Lincoln and Washington.
Originally on their actual birthdays, the 11th and the 22nd.
(Eventually changed to the Monday of the week of the birthdays so they could be 3 day weekends every year)
Then they gave Martin Luther King (womanizer and plagiarizer but had a good agenda “content of character” etc) a whole day with his name on it and Cesar Chavez (Union thug) his own day with his name on it and squished Lincoln and Washington into one day without any mention of their names and added all the other presidents.
I’m sure schools teach more about King and Chavez then they do Lincoln and Washington [Known as THE Father of our Country]
