A Columbia man is charged with disorderly conduct after sheriff's deputies say he jumped on the back of a fire engine for a ride in north Spartanburg early Friday.
According to a Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office incident report, Jordan Alexander Watkins, 20, of 139 Gate Post Lane, climbed onto the back of a North Spartanburg Fire Department truck and began riding down the road while yelling at passers-by.
The fire department had just finished responding to a call at Campus Edge Apartments on Pinegate Drive, the report stated.
A deputy who spotted Watkins stopped him and smelled a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, according to the report.
Watkins was taken to the Spartanburg County jail.
