Link no worky for me.

Have no doubt Thomas Jefferson did have words for the lazy that hit home. I remember some things about school but not enough. During the time was in High School little truth was being taught because it was the time of new beginnings in the late 50s and early 60s. By the time began College found that the process was one to make one do their own research and to think for oneself. Guess, I was lucky to have gone to College then, for now, probably is not the same of where they teach one to think for oneself. I agree the words of the Founders should be required reading beyond the Declaration and Constitution though regrettably schools appear to be afraid of backlash in teaching the truth. Instead we have those teaching our young that say things, along the line of, *Don't you say nothin' bad about obama ... You'll be arrested*, as happened in North Carolina. From what I understand that teacher is currently in the classroom when it was the teacher, in that case, and not the student that needed to research and read. This is America and Thomas Jefferson was impugned relentlessly while alive and also after his death. Thomas Jefferson understood the value of a free press, even if the free press lied. Not many understand today. Thus my total agreement ... Thomas Jefferson should occupy, at a minimum, one full semester of High School curriculum and possibly two.

Jefferson attended church regularly his whole life.

Perhaps, but he was still a deist who ridiculed the supernatural.

As a devoted church goer, and a vestry in the church, and a clearly pro-Christian leader, Jefferson was clearly more religious than the left portrays him as.

How did he do this without an iPad or computer?
He was lucky to have paper and a quill and ink!
meanwhile in Los Angeles the schools are getting more then $1 billion in iPads that will be a continued expense for taxpayers and a nice fat profit for Apple. The kids will still dropout at a 50%+ rate.

Good quotes from a man who was not an Biblical Christian, but the practical wisdom of men in those days was a gift of God to this country.

However, the quote, “The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not” is not yet substantiated as far as i can see.

Status: This exact quotation has not been found in any of the writings of Thomas Jefferson. It bears a very vague resemblance to Jefferson’s comment in a prospectus for his translation of Destutt de Tracy’s Treatise on Political Economy:

“To take from one, because it is thought that his own industry and that of his fathers has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association, —the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry, & the fruits acquired by it.’”[3] - http://www.monticello.org/site/jefferson/democracy-will-cease-to-exist-quotation

"Religious" doesn't necessarily mean "orthodox," you know . . . especially in "the Age of Reason." Then there's his mutilated bible.

Mark A. Beliles has assembled an impressive list of some of Jefferson’s actions as president.
- Promoted legislative and military chaplains.
- Established a national seal using a biblical symbol.
- Included the word “God” in our national motto.
- Established official days of fasting and prayer at the state level.
- Punished Sabbath breakers.
- Protected the property of churches.
- Required that oaths be phrased by the words “So help me God” and be sworn on the Bible.
- Granted land to Christian schools.
- Allowed government property and facilities to be used for worship.
- Used the Bible and nondenominational religious instruction in the public schools. He was involved in three different school districts, and the plan in each required that the Bible be taught in our public schools.
- Allowed and encouraged clergymen to hold public office.
- Funded religious books for public libraries.
- Funded salaries for missionaries.
- Exempted churches from taxation.
- Established professional schools of theology.
- Wrote treaties requiring other nations to guarantee religious freedom, including religious speeches and prayer in official ceremonies.

Hmm, sounds like someone who definitely promoted the separation of church and state, doesn't it???

Exactly, the same left who can rewrite Clinton and Reagan, has an easier time rewriting the Founding fathers.

“...is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association...”

His real quotes don’t just slide off our 21-century tongues. It has been awhile since I read “Atlas Shrugged” - but the above sentiment was made IIRC by Ayn Rand too.
