“It’s Time”.
That’s the message seen for the past few weeks on the 12 Years A Slave billboard as you drive on to the 20th Century Fox lot. And since the film earned nine Oscar nominations it has frequently been the slogan of choice for the Fox Searchlight contender in newspaper and television ads. A highly emotional close-up of star Chiwetel Ejiofor as the man forced into slavery and just two words to accompany it: “It’s Time”.

Funny, that thought actually ran through my mind, too!
No way did they show that. If you want the whole movie in a sentence it’s: “White people did nothing else but spend all their free time torturing and killing black people....except for people in Massachusetts.” That’s the whole movie.

I heard about a black slave owner in Louisiana who owned a bunch of slaves, some of them his relatives, it was said he was especially cruel and was actually charged with cruelty in courts. (apparently court records exist)
It was from a book called “Black Masters”
Do you think Hollyweird would want to make a movie about that guy? Call it “Black Master” or something?

I won’t feel guilty at all, since none of my ancestors owned any slaves.
one of the many reasons for RWI was that king george would not allow the colonies to abolish slavery in their territories. once the war started about 6-7 northern colonies - states then - were able to abolish slavery.
my ancestors weren’t even here until the 1920s. they had to deal with prejudices against italians and germans, depending where they were. to act like nobody else has had to deal with racial prejudice except blacks is absurd.
