They actually used the term “sluttish” in 1930’s movie trailers?

Look how much trouble it got Limbaugh into in the 21st. Century.

I believe that's a modern summary of the movie by TCM.

The 'sluttish' character referred to is presumably the character portrayed by Bette Davis. It's interesting that the review focuses on the sexual morals of Bette Davis' character. Leslie Howard, in the lead, is no shining example of sexual morals, either.
