THON 2014 Total Breaks Previous Record Again

After a year of fundraising, months of planning, and 46 hours of dancing, this year’s IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon shattered last year’s final total and raise a whopping $13,343,517.33 For The Kids.

With the flipping of those iconic white placards by the 2014 Executive Committee, another beautiful chapter was added to the story of THON — our story of THON.

This is the tenth straight year THON raised more money than the previous year. Since 1977, when THON and the Four Diamonds Fund paired up for a common cause, more than $100 million has been raised, excluding this year’s efforts. With every cent raised, we come closer to eradicating childhood cancer. We will dance in celebration one day, but until then we dance For The Kids.

There will be time for reflection and praise in the coming days, weeks, and months. In the meantime, you can check out an aggregation of all of our coverage from the weekend here.

The effort to break the record again at THON 2015 begins tomorrow. And so, like it always has, Penn State will take up the challenge and do it again.

Good for them! The families with children with pediatric cancer are relieved of one less burden during their time of crisis. This completely student-run effort Is a testament to the good still left in some people. Regardless of what the naysayers will post because it has to do with Penn State, this is an incredible accomplishment for all involved. May God bless their continued success!
