LEO needs to return to a two men per car patrol policy. A Junior Officer the and a Senior Officer of ten years or more experience. It protects the officers with an on site back up and experienced senior officer having discernment & it protects citizens by less likelihood of a keyed up panicked cop.

The man was walking away and the bride was under no obligation to stick around and there was no basis for arresting her, nor anybody else in that party.

The net effect, if the officer had followed your advice, was to allow a perp to walk away from his crime. This is what you would be suggesting.
