Youse guys can have your Oscars (named for a body part of Betty Davis' first husband) (no, really), I'll wait for my Banjo & Accordion Hall of Fame Extravaganza, and I'll certainly be sure to post a thread when that happens.

You missed it. They aired it LAST night. Here's a photo from the opening number.

Unfortunately we already have a pretty good idea of what is winning. My wife and I saw EVERY movie nominated for best picture and every movie that has an actor or actress attached to a movie nominated.

The following is my take on the movies:

The Wolf of Wall Street - A typical Leo movie that was overblown but kinda fun.

Her - interestingly weird and a bit disturbing

Nebraska - Way better than I though. It was a cute little movie

Philamena - A good movie…fair too all sides. I was nervous about the Catholic part of the movie but they portrayed them fairly and it is a true story.

Dallas Buyers Club - This movie could have been cancer, parkinson’s, any disease movie could have worked.

Gravity - Most boring movie ever! Hated every minute of it.

Blue Jasmine - Very disappointed. I was not thrilled about it.

Captain Phillips - Luckily I saw this on Amazon Instant Video for a one day rental, I started the film, watched 51 minutes and then fast forwarded it to the last 20 minutes. Saw enough and was not overly impressed.

American Hustle - Fun movie but so many movies have been made of the same vain.

August Osage County - Very disappointed in this film. Bunch of people yelling at each other. Typical Streep movie

12 Years a Slave - Good Lord the best movie of the year. It was intriguing and interesting and kept my interest throughout. Deserves every award it was given.

I hope that 12 years a slave win Best Movie. Matthew as Best Actor. Jered Ledo as Supporting Actor. I would love Jennifer to get her second oscar in a row but the possibility is going down. 12 Years a slave actress will most likely win it….her role was much harder to do then Jennifers by a long shot. I would love Amy Adams to win the Best Actress, but it will go to Cate Blanchett for SOME REASON unknown to me.

The rip off of the year was Saving Mr. Banks….My wife and I loved this movie so much. I would say second to 12 years a slave. I don’t know why they didn’t pick this film. I didn’t want to go but we were late for another film and ended up having to see this one. So glad that we did. Outstanding!!!!!

Biggest correct decision of the year. Leaving The Butler out of the nominations. Next to 12 years a slave, it made The Butler look like a high school performance. Oprah was awful. I don’t even know why they were even whispering such nonsense.

I hope you are wrong about Gravity….worst film of the year. Boring and dull. However your guess about Best Actress I could live with for sure. Cate Blanchett’s movie was not that great. American Hustle was much better.

Let’s hope! Well deserved!!!!

I hope the viewership drops a lot this eve.

It will drop for sure because everyone was so excited about Seth McFarlain last year. However, everyone bitched and moaned about how he pushed the envelope that they said never gain and picked a safe person in Ellen. She won’t be spouting homosexual stuff. She didn’t the other two times she hosted.

If you’ve got any kid in you then Pacific Rim was by far the best movie out this year.
Gravity was average at best, same with Captain Phillips.
Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock have jumped the shark. There was no character in either character.

Maybe I needed to have seen it on a big screen to be more awed by the special effects. Sandra Bullock was great, though.

Nope it was still a drag. Love Sandra Bullock but this tripe was awful. I wanted her gone forever into space never to be seen again….the character no Sandra.

Funniest line, ever.

Nope. I enjoy hearing the speeches. I watch the first hour and the last half hour. I don’t count any way and neither do you. Unless you have a nielsen box it doesn’t matter who watches it. By the way only about 50K people have the box that controls what we watch so all this tv boycott doesn’t do a thing.

You keep forgetting that as with Country music there are two yearly award ceremonies in the banjo & accordion arts universe. The second one is due at a later date this year, and the North Korean Accordion Combo has been nominated in the Best Foreign Language Accordion category.

Wolf was fun. A bit over the top but it was a true story so what were you expecting Leave it to Beaver. Sometimes you guys need to get a little reality.

I think GRAVITY is a brilliant movie that should win on merit, but the Oscar will go to the slave movie because Black Trumps Just About Everything.

Oh gosh you are so wrong. They will go with the “slave movie” because it was brilliant unlike that cheep Gravity with fake sound stage equipment….it was so awful that I could not wait to escape the tripe of a movie. If Gravity wins, I will literally barf. 12 years a slave should win as it deserves it.

You are going to be very close. I would love Bradley Cooper win but I think it is Jared Leto’s year. Oh and no way Gravity wins best picture. It will win director though

Ok, I didn’t see the movie, so I will take your word for it that it is a good movie.

But you know the Liberals in Hollywood are going to use this to preach to the rest of us, about how “evil” slavery was, and how the “Tea Party” wants to bring slavery back, yadda yadda yadda....

lol. I think conservatives have inferior complexes. Always worried about what movies say about them. First of all 12 years a slave was set in the 1800’s so I promise you not a word was mentioned at all about tea party or conservatives for that matter.
