I haven’t seen any black helicopters, but on a jobsite in the middle of nowhere the day after 9-11, it was eerily quiet with no planes, when all of a sudden, we heard a chopper-I glanced up, and jokingly said uh oh-is that helicopter black, and three of the 4 guys on the crew rolled into the brush or ran for their truck-I forgot that 2 of them were Viet Nam vets, and MrT5-who hated choppers, too-told me to never, ever do that again.

Only to be the person to call if a problem happened-that was back when a general practitioner was a real doctor, not a referral agency for specialist$$$$$. There wasn’t a pediatrician attending the birth either-everything was as perfect as Lamaze can make it.

I almost forgot about the litigation factor-that is likely 80% of the reason the hospital/birthing center needs to cover its ass-John Edwards and his colleagues are always waiting just outside, like vultures...

But, if the hospital asked you who was to be the doctor for your newborn child, you wouldn’t freak out and think it was some kind of conspiracy?

That was my point.

There is libertarian and then there is just nutball crazy.

I used to trust my government. I don’t anymore, unfortunately.

Is this the same math used by Obamacare to insure millions more while saving us all on insurance premiums?

Must be Common Core math where the right answer doesn't matter -- just the method used, the more complicated the better.

Oh, probably not-it would depend on how it was presented-my dad taught us to only give name, rank and service number without a good reason-now, he WAS paranoid, because of his MOS, but my first husband and MrT5-both military members-were that way to a lesser extent.

It doesn’t sound as though the hospital was very tactful in the case we are talking about, if the dad is to be believed-poor customer service skills are way too common today...

I never trusted government-I was brought up to love my country, but that government is untrustworthy by its very nature. I was told no one in the family had trusted government since they left Spain several centuries ago, but I’ve no idea if that is true. The family is known for unrepentant rebels, and soldiers, though...

I’m LMAO at my pets-I was walking into the kitchen, and saw Midget girl sitting on the butcher block leaning over, looking down into a 25-pound plastic deer feed bag that I keep birdseed in. Husky girl was beside me, and she leaned in to see what was going on and pushed Midget with her muzzle, and she fell down into the bag-popped up like she was on springs, cleared the top of the bag without even touching it, hissed at the startled dog, and ran into both the other cats as she raced down the hall.

I’ve seldom seen an animal move that fast-she is back in here sitting by the chair, giving me a reproachful look, like somehow I made it all happen...

Yeah, let’s announce a trip to China, right after they make an openly hostile move, placing MRBMs within reach of Guam, forcing us to move sevicemen out of Okinawa.

I just finished unwrapping the statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe I got from the Catholic store-I bought one for indoors. It is 18 inches tall, very nicely painted, and now all I have to do is set up a place to put it with some candles and an incense burner for joss sticks...

The fact is after the birth the baby is a patient of the hospital and will need his/her own doctor. Some people are just jerks. Would he rather the hospital put a joeschmo incompetent boob pediatrician on his case without getting a say so?

Nice. I did a short presentation on that for our RCIA members just before Advent. She is the only Mary depicted as pregnant. The research was interesting.

That sounds so weird to me, because it would have been unheard of when I had my kid-It really sounds like a CYA legally by the hospital to have the baby with his/her own doctor when he/she is barely born, but what isn’t these days? The Edwards wannabees make everything a hassle, even a happy event like birth-it sounds more like the aftermath of a workers comp injury...

All three of mine had doctors of their own. I would think it’s weird not to.
