THE ONE PERCENT SET TO FLEE NEW YORK CITY
Eye On the Nation News ^ | 03/04/2014

Posted on 03/04/2014 10:06:50 AM PST by Beave Meister

According to the New York Post, New York City’s mad cap Sandinista Mayor Bill de Blasio is about to find out a truth that conservatives have known all along, that bashing the rich can only go so far.

It seems when he is not throwing little children out of charter schools or banning carriage rides in Central Park, de Blasio is on full class warfare mode and is going after New York’s one percent with a vengeance. It seems that the wealthy elite are starting to have had enough and are getting ready to decamp en masse, to Florida it appears by preference, but presumably also to other low tax, low regulation red states where they appreciate people of wealth.

This will be nothing short of a disaster for the Big Apple. Because of that city’s confiscatory taxes, the rich provide a great deal of the money that it takes to fill pot holes and pay the police. That money will be missed if the glitterati are suddenly in Florida and Texas. Perhaps their abandoned mansions can be turned into low income housing, just as the palaces of the nobility were in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution.

Trickle down works? Yep, absolutely.

OK, so back in the 90s, Bush the elder signed a "Luxury Tax". 30%, IIRC, on things like jewelery, yachts, etc etc.

Sez many, "Who cares! Those rich bastards can afford it, anyway!". Right?

Nope. End result was that the rich bastards don't particularly *care* where they buy their luxury yachts from. Spain, Bermuda, or Downeast Maine...it's all the same, because they have people who handle that for them. And if they can save an extra 30% buy going offshore, by buying something that's designed to go offshore to begin with........

Final tally was the destruction of boatbuilding in Maine. 100's or 1000's of people put out of work. These are all regular people (I knew a few of them) ... blue-collar, workaday, average Joes.

The bill was subsequently repealed. But the damage was done.

Di Blazio appears to be as useful to New York City as is Dog excretia. Will someone please scrape him up.

Agreed. I learned a very valuable lesson when I was about 18. A buddy took me to an American Legion post. There were some guys playing poker and my buddy asked if I knew how to play. So I ante up and to make a long story short, they had a few house rules that I’d never heard of, itchy Kings and such. Anyway the lesson I learned at a small cash cost was, he who owns the table makes the rules. I have since been loathe to get into something that I didn’t have the power to influence fairly.

“....de Blasio is on full class warfare mode and is going after New York’s one percent with a vengeance.”

.
Doesn’t he know that that 1% pays the bulk of the taxes that he needs to run NYC?

Socialists/communists must be born dumb.

many liberal women are very good looking, easy. Just plain easy. And that is why he won’t come back home. They’re stupid, but good looking, and he’s having the time of his life

So the girls are easy but he's not? It sounds like a good match: he's got money and they're good looking but easy.

I recall bloomberg saying how, in a city of 8 million people, 60 percent of the city’s revenues comes from only 40 thousand of those residents.

Chase those 40 thousand away, or even just a small percentage of them, how are they going to make up for the lost revenue?

NYC is as close to a current Babylon worldwide power centralized in one city..political (UN) and business/economic at least...and then religion of the world, secular humanism, has NYC as a hub...

I declare that divine providence..

And I would stay as far away as I could...

Stock trades that are mere miliseconds apart can make or break an investment company. Physical proximity makes all the difference.

I don't consider that investment.

The 10-year tax free thing has so many * clauses that no company will ever qualify

Florida, ok. Texas, hell no. They may leave the tax-confiscation, but they bring their socialst-liberal-atheist-anti-Christian do-goodism with them.

Has everyone seen the commercials to entice business to come to NY? They offer 10 years tax free. They wouldn’t have to do that if it were business-friendly in the first place.

And let's not forget: “these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay” have “no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

Because business is still a network of human beings looking each other in the eye and investing, not in the venture itself, but in the person proposing it.

Digital communications is never going to provide a substitute for showing up and allowing two people to look each other in the eye and have a no-BS conversation.

Bill de Blasio “converted” a lesbian and then married her. Doesn’t he get bonus points for that?

Seems like she converted him.

I'm not buying it.

Having a Manhattan address is one of the great status symbols among the wealthy. They are not going to give that up. To them, Manhattan really is the center of the universe and they are not going anywhere.

Now some upper middle-class people living in Brooklyn or Queens...yes, I can see some of them throwing in the towel and moving on.

New York State has been running ads here in Colorado trying to lure businesses to NY. If they can take our liberals that’d be great.
