It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Nope — it’s a Facebook drone.

The social media site reportedly wants to use drones to bring Internet connection to the two thirds of the world that still lack connectivity, starting with parts of Africa. The initiative is part of the internet.org project, which Facebook backs.

Build 11,000 drones?

They’ve already got millions of drones as members!

Great, the literacy rate is as low as 25% in some African countries. How does Facebook expect their new sub-Saharan customers to effectively communicate to each other who the penis thieves are and who the witches are?

Believe me, FB wouldn’t be doing this if there weren’t profit involved. And that’s not a bad thing.

Myspace of some other company needs to come out and state, we will have no comments on immigration or other political issues. That is not our desired purpose.

Then have it to where all the facebook data can be quickly transferred from facebook. I would love to see them fall flat on their azzes. There needs to be a good and easy alternative to facebook. Facebook needs to soon be out and something new and non-political needs to take their place.

"I can barely wait for the African Version of Facebook."

"Welcome to my webpage. Perhaps you can help me. My late Uncle Gomez left $240 million in a bank account. If you will help me transfer this to the U.S., you can have half!"

Even the almighty Google boys pretty much failed to poach many FBers with their Google+.

Although they claim everybody on YouTube as a Google+ member now which is a bit of a stretch.

Free Republic is social networking. It is like blaming guns for murders. Facebook and the like are just tools. It doesn’t cause divorce. People cause divorce. I do agree that stupid or impulsive people have to be extra careful when using a tool like facebook. I use facebook but I don’t let facebook use it and run my life. I use it for remote networking and don’t divulge much on that site. To each his own.

I would actually support these drones, if and only if, they are militarized and authorized to strike any scammers and internet cafes being used in scams.

It’s amazing the connections Ungle G has. The FBI has contacted me on his behalf and held my money for me. I once even got personal mail from Bernanke asking me to pick up my money.
He must know every barrister in England.

"Ugh.... teach them to read first.. and build bathrooms.."

Absolutely! Stone Age black Africans need to learn to read write and compute first. Then agriculture, road construction, framing a house, sewage and water management, and indoor plumbing. Just the usual stuff a modern civilization needs to get started. Even the ancient Greeks and Romans knew this.

Just like Free Republic, you can put any name you choose on Facebook. They don't require an ID check.

People don’t. The kids put it out there and talk to their friends. If you are going to make up a name there are other sites that are not social networking you can go to.

I use to get notices wanting me to tell where I was born and where I live. I gave all the info I wanted known so I refused. People who know me know those things already so why let the world know. It is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends who live all over the country plus I get loads of conservative news.
