Good to see that at least some of the youngest generation resists being told by the government what to eat. Hope they catch on that it is just as unpalatable to get any number of other things shoved down their throats by the government to constrain and control their lives and turn them into obedient slaves.

It must be true what they say. Health food tastes like shite. I can’t even stand the smell of it when my local health food store leaves the door open.

Our grandson normally brings his own lunch. Since the change, the few tines he would buy lunch is now nil. He said “It tastes funny. The milk is bad, too.”

What in the world is in it to make it taste horrible to a 11 yr. old, active boy? What is wrong with the milk? His best friend was eating them, but he came home starving. His mom makes his lunches now. Any of the kids in sports have the same problem. It is also a “diet” way too low in protein for the kids. My grandson said the trash cans are filled with “food” every day.

I teach at our local high school. Our population is such that all students recieve a free breakfast and most students recieve a free or reduced lunch. Those that don’t bring their own food.

It’s not that our urban population dislikes healthy food; on the contrary, healthier food is not being served. The issue is portion sizes. Each meal is only 200-300 calories. Here is an example from yesterday’s breakfast: one cinnamon bun (soy, partially hydrogenated oil, artificial flavors, HFCS, whole wheat); choice of low-fat milk, low-fat chocolate milk, or juice (10% real juice, HFCS, artificial flavors, artificial colors).

A lunch last week consisted of a cup of soup and a very small graham cracker pb&j sandwich. I’ve also learned that anything chicken (nuggets, patties, etc.) is pink slime. I love telling the complaining students how much Michelle wants them to be healthy, with sarcasm dripping on every word.

We need to establish a, “Cafeteria Lady” office within the department of Education. I nominate Paula Deen for the office!

If you spend your money on food, there is the expectation of palatability.
If you went to a restaurant and the food wasn’t fit to eat, you’d demand your money back.
These students should be likewise compensated for their loss.

I have children in an excellen elementary school that has incredible parent involvement. Over the past year, my girls have reAlly become dissatisfied with school lunches. They would now take a cold lunch every day if they could— I will make one day a week for them while they must pack their own if they additional days. I recently ate school lunch with my third grader and had to put on a brave face to choke it down. They had “pizza” ( i have had the misfortune of eating it earlier in the year) yesterday and my daughter informed me that 19 of the 23 kids in her class brought their lunch instead. I asked who the 4 pizza eaters were and recognized that they were ones that very likely didnt have any other option. Anyway, I don’t think it is an accident that three items (pizza, burgers, hot dogs) that should be popular with the kids are so incredibly bad to the point that my kids are hesitant to eat them outside of school....
