A friend of mine, who has since passed, had either the Remington New Army or a Colt Navy and it was quite an accurate pistol. He set it up for me and having never fired it before I punched dead center holes in some 2 liter bottles full of water at about 75 feet. Lots of fun!

Yep, a .58 caliber ball is a pretty good chunk of lead comin' atcha! Especially at point blank range. That is what I've always pictured behind that story.
