For serious infections like that, Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is a better choice than just amoxicillin. It’s specifically recommended for pneumonia, BTW.

I had pneumonia back in 1977, and several times since.

If you ever get case of it YOU WILL NEVER WANT A SECOND!
It started with a cold, and after a few days I got over it. Suddenly I was hit with chills and felt so bad I could not go to work the next day.

Two days later I was worse, and got to a hospital, spent a week there and recovered.

Last case, I came down with a mild cough. It would not go away. For several weeks I very carefully watched my cough Flem and soon saw brown color in the Flem. Immediately went to the doctor and it was confirmed, got pills and wiped it out.

Right now I am in the midst of a cold, and watching the Flem closely.

Pneumonia is not something to laugh about.

Most people who do not die of an acute cardiac event or trauma, die a pulmonary death. People who get a fatal liver disease, fatal a renal disease, metabolic disease, muscular disease, etc. succumb because of pneumonic process….slowly becoming hypoxic, acidotic,……death. That death rattle is difficult for families to forget.
