When my daughter was in her mid-teens we had a fire in our apartment building. I tried to rouse her but she kept saying “Just ten more minutes.” I finally had to drag her from bed.

They had a M 5.0 - 237km SSW of Avalon, California on the 4th. A 5 will get your attention if you’re in the neighborhood. This came after a couple of weeks of relative quiet around the Pacific plate.
Things seem to be picking back up again, especially from the Philippines up through Japan. The Alutians and AK are always rumbling.

Frequency and intensity have been ramping up over the past few years, and I wonder if it’s a “sign of the times”.
