"Extensive criminal history" in and out of prison her whole life, even escapes and she is still let out. Yet if she gets a gun and shoots someone, who do they blame? The gun and the NRA.

Dont let anything escape blame...

You left the other 1/3 of the parties directly to blame for a shooting, without which a shooting would be impossible.

The bullets.

The Port Authority Bus Terminal is the new Creedmore, minus the clinical staff.

His family should sue the city. Homeless trash all over the place. You literally step over them on the west side. I go into Penn Station every day and they’re are about 50 of them shuffling around menacing commuters. Smells like a homeless shelter. No a great first impression to tourists coming in on Amtrak. I’ve been commuting for 20 years and the last 5 years is the worst it’s ever been.

About the only question here should be “Is she so mentally ill that she represents a risk of harm to herself or others so should be institutionalized; or is she in enough control of her faculties that she can be imprisoned?”

Since both the law and the unwillingness to fund insane asylums has made it impractical for state asylums to function, yet there is considerable valid trepidation about any federally managed mental institution, the best outcome might be with multi-state compacts funded by those states under federal guidelines.

It would neither be easy to be institutionalized in one, nor once institutionalized, to be released, since each state would have a medical veto of both admissions or releases. And each state would pay proportionally to how many patients it admitted.

Each institution would have several sections depending on the severity, potential for release, and criminality.

August 2012 I was last there, with my deaf sister in law. My brother was at Presbyterian dying. So we were walking around and this woman starts screaming at us and spitting. My SIL didn’t hear, didn’t react - I steered her away. Scary.

Nothing illustrates the hideousness of the democrats than stories like this. By the late 1960’s, there were approximately 500,000 patients in mental health facilities nationwide. Then came Nixon's 49-state sweep in ‘72, and the dems panicked. They made the political decision to use the tax code, which they controlled for 40 years, from ‘54 to ‘94, to buy votes with crappy government programs. They literally stole the entire Social Security Fund in the ‘70s, which up until then had been an interest bearing account. All the money is gone, stolen by dems for their crappy government programs. How does this story tie in? Those half a million mental health patients were kicked out of their hospitals, reducing their number by 90%, down to 50,000 patients, in order to get the money that was being spent on their care. I remember quite distinctly when this happened, as it directly affected the lives of several people near and dear. I didn't understand it then, but I do now. The dems had the snake balls to blame the whole situation on Ronaldus Maximus a few years later, when he defeated the peanut farmer in ‘80. He then pummelled Fritz and Tits by another 49-state sweep in ‘84. The dems never gave up on their grand larceny, though, the grandest in all history, amounting to trillions. When you rob Peter to pay Paul, you always get Paul's vote, that's the essence of it. It was a long haul, but the end result was Obama, and half the country receiving money from some government source. It's going to crash and burn, and take us all with it, but in the meanwhile, 80-year-olds are going to get beaten, so the dems can force us to accept national health care, abortion, gay marriage, legalized drugs, and all the other wonderful things the dems stand up for. They would be laughably pathetic, were it not for the fact that they actually win elections. For shame.
