Personal Observation: For the second consecutive year, CPAC has held its annual conference at the National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, about 5-7 miles away from the U.S. Capitol. Oxon Hill is in Prince George's County, Maryland -- which is heavily Democrat and majority black in residents.
CPAC attendees, legislators, staff, radio & TV personalities & their staff have been at National Harbor spending their money there for the past few days at restaurants, bars, pharmacies, gift shops, etc.
Is the mainstream media going to report on how "mean, racist, bigot & homophobe Republicans and conservatives" are spending money in P.G. County and pumping money into the county's and the state's coffers?

Exactly. I can see it from Wilson Bridge, FGS. Essentially, it really is D.C.
and since there is now a Roy Rogers in Waldorf, I don’t have to drive to either LaPlata or Ft. Belvoir to get a Double R Bar burger or Roy’s fried chicken! Although every few months work takes me to Ft. Belvoir and I try to schedule it so that I can have lunch at Roy Rogers.
It is. But all the tax income and money spent there is going to PG County and "Merryland" and God knows what corrupt govt. program that money will end up in...
I love the margaritas and the food at “La Tolteca” in Waldorf, right next to that Roy Rogers (which used to be an Arby’s)....
Yes! Why the hell have it in D.C.?? Smh...
I pontificate at length about the venue in this:

CPAC used to meet @ Crystal City in Arlington VA. Arlington is really not much better than PG as far as lib govt programs go. Just not the same crime stats and demographics as PG beyond Natl Harbor.
And now look at our Gov. Huckster. Give him a little time, he’s working to catch up with O’Malley. Fortunately, in VA a governor can’t run for a 2nd term.
That's actually an understatement. The articles were a lot more than merely a "series." In fact, after the original macaca incident came to light, the WaPo had a front-page Allen-bashing article just about EVERY DAY during that campaign.
Moreover, the wily propaganda experts at the Post used their on-going, daily macaca discussions as a hook to provide extraneous details about Allen's Jewish ancestry -- something that probably helped erode his support not only among many voters of rural Virginia, but also among the numerous Muslim voters of Northern Virginia.

Not so sure about that. Was at National Harbor on a Saturday afternoon last year, and it looked to me as if at least 75% of the customers in the restaurants and shops were African or African-American.
But were any of them gangbangers? Or just working/middle class folks?
A problem with PG is that with DC gentrification, ever more gangbangers are moving out there, as if PG didn’t have enough of them, and enough other problems to begin with.
Admittedly, tho, even if the 70-75% of National Harbor’s customers who are African or African-American are middle- or upper-middle class, over time it, too, will become known as a “black” area which alone will deter a lot of whites from going there. More’s the pity.

For good or bad, I think that’s already the reality of the situation — at least as far as the “local” patrons are concerned.
On the other hand, when the Gaylord Hotel books a large convention, the hotel’s guests won’t necessarily fit any particular ethnic pattern.
I think they should spend their money in a conservative city, if there is such a thing. This continues to be our problem. Keep feeding the beast in hopes that it will like us.
ahahahaha, on tonite’s news they talked about the Natl Harbor owner donating $XXXXXX to PG schools, to be spread over (IIRC) 4 years.
La Plata has a convention center??!!
HA!
Not surprising, though....
I frankly don’t hold out much hope but if anything could improve PG schools it’d be great. Methinks the best thing they could do is teach the young girls to cross their legs.
Agreed.
PG Co. public schools’ problems are trickling into Chuck County somewhat, including gangs, weapons, drugs and girls who are pregnant at a very young age (some of them are 16 or 17 years old with not only one child, but two kids!)
It’s hard for me to explain this to my 7th grade son — so I just leave those details and that ‘talk’ to my husband, who is far more direct with these topics and is the male role model....
Best!
Oh, but they're not 'acceptable' minorities, because they're not liberal minorities.
Hiya Silvie! How Ya been?
