Anyone Familiar With Population Research Institute?

Is anyone here familiar with the Population Research Institute? I received a mailing from them this weekend, asking for a petition signature and a donation. I am very pro-life and have given to Right to Life in the past. I was surprised to see on this PRI mailing that donations to them are tax-deductible.

Thanks for any comments.

It's a very good, pro-life group. They tell the truth, that “overpopulation” is a myth and that pushing contraception and abortion on poor countries is evil.

PRI is a non-profit based in Virginia that fights against international population control stuff, especially against bad UN programs and the like.

Their website is www.pop.org if you want to check them out.

Charity Navigator - http://www.charitynavigator.org/ - will show you how much - %-wise - an organization is spending on programs vs. overhead, etc. It’s a good place to see if your donated dollars are being used responsibly.

They don’t rate PRI very high - 1 star out of 4. You may still want to donate, or you may want to explore other similar organizations which will do a better job with your donations.

No other organization can claim as much credit for the passage of ObamaCare as can The National Right to Life.

In October and November of 2009, without their ceaseless lobbying and successful blackmailing efforts against the House Republicans to vote for it, we wouldn’t have ObamaCare to kick around.

That is because their primary mission is public education to stomp out the “over population” myths promulgated by the Liberals and the MSM.

They help to clarify the eugenic nature of the population control groups around the world.

Other charities may be more focused on getting goods and services to the needy, and that is not the specific charter of PRI.

In fact, PRI exposes how distribution of most government foreign aid is dependent upon the receiving countries comitting to participating in abortion and contraception programs.

What are you talking about?

Proof please!

Why would a “Right to Life” group support Obamacare?
They’re not naive enough to believe a completely Dem bill would be Pro-Life!

My daughter-in-law worked for them right out of college. If you feel called to give to them, I can assure you they do VERTY good work for the pro-life cause.

NRTL -— Evil, or just Stupid?

October/November 2009 and ObamaCare was stalled in the House, the main sticking point being government funded abortions. There were enough Dems opposed to abortion that refused to vote for the ObamaCare if it contained any abortion language that it would not pass.

Representative Stupak (D) MI introduced his amendment that prohibited any government money from ObamaCare bill being used to fund abortions. This essentially would end all abortions, as no medical procedures outside the ObamaCare System can be done. No going to a doctor and paying him directly for anything. Thus, with his amendment, ALL abortions would be illegal.

This amendment to the House bill, if it passed, would give the above ‘Pro-Life’ Democrats a green light to vote for the ObamaCare bill.

Not enough Democrats supported the Stupak Amendment for it to pass. Many Democrats were vociferously opposed to it. It could only pass with Republican votes.

National Right to Life favored the Stupak Amendment, and insisted that Republicans vote for it. Further, they threatened any Republican who didn’t vote for it with their active opposition to that Republican during the 2010 fall election.

The Republicans caved, even those who could see the eventual outcome, right down to the last man. One hundred percent voted for the Stupak Amendment, along with a bunch of Dems who were opposed to abortions. Stupak handily passed.

Nobody believed the Amendment would stick; eventually it would/will be overridden in some fashion and that Government funded abortion would become part of ObamaCare.

With a green light, the ’Pro-Life’ Dems could vote for ObamaCare, and although many hard-line Leftists were angry, enough of them also could see the end game, and agreed to vote pass ObamaCare.

I see what you’re saying -— and there’s a certain bitter truth here. I do wish I knew why the NRLC bought into the Obamacare-without-abortion idea. (And the USCCB as well, I must add, gagging.) Hair-tearingly, totally stupak.

Post 13 was from something I wrote and saved on my computer soon after the event.

Unless history is studied and remembered, mistakes happen all over again.

I titled the piece “National Right to Life, Stupid or Evil, They Don’t Deserve Another Dime”.

Thanks for posting the reference to charitynavigator.org. I was aware of the organization but had forgotten its name.

I was looking for an organization to give info on the various charities.

Thank You!

I thought I followed ALL of this very closely.
Can’t believe I missed the NRTL push.

Unfortunately, I’m used to the USCCB getting it wrong on Life issues.
Usually indirectly, like supporting U.N. aid measures, while ignoring the population control blackmail as a condition of the aid.

EWTN Live: Fr. Miitch Pacwa interviews Steve Mosher
Father Mitch Pacwa interviews Steve Mosher on the enormously popular television program, “EWTN Live.”

Fr. Pacwa is a piercing TV interviewer who asked some amazingly insightful questions when Mr. Mosher appeared on his “EWTN Live”. You’ll see and hear the entire interview with Fr. Pacwa on this 60-minute DVD. Here’s just a little bit of what Father and Mr. Mosher discussed:

+ The one horrible thing Mr. Mosher witnessed that instantly converted him from pro-abortion atheist to pro-lifer and put him on the path to Catholicism (the grim event he describes on the this DVD took place when he was living and studying in Red China, the first American social scientist ever allowed to do so)

+ A “no punches pulled” description of how China brutally enforces its “one-child-per-family” in rural villages (this is based on what Mr. Mosher personally saw in China)
+ What sometimes happens when a baby girl is born in China want a boy, but are only allowed one child under Chinese law (this will break your heart, just as it did Mr. Mosher’s when he witnessed it in China)

+ The dirty secret that population controllers don’t want you to know: The real reason they inflict abortion, sterilization, contraception and euthanasia throughout the world

+ The “guiding hand” behind Obama’s “health care” program and the even worse population control programs that Obama’s White House has yet to reveal

+ Plus more, including the one European country with a birth rate high enough to replace itself . . . the only country in the world where suicide by women outnumbers suicide by men – and why . . . the 5 defining characteristics of “secular humanists,” a fancy term that most people can’t accurately define . . . facts you might not yet know about the deeply-rooted racism of Planned Parenthood, and still more!

i have seen him on ewtn and i have used his data in our pro life work
