PORTLAND, Ore. — A crazed cat is behind bars after it attacked a baby and held an Oregon family hostage in a bedroom, forcing them to call 911.

According to KPTV, the ferocious feline — a 22-pound Himalayan named Lux — “went over the edge” Sunday evening after it was punished for scratching a couple’s 7-month-old baby. The baby was not injured.

When the peeved pet began charging at its owners, the family and their dog hid in a bedroom, where they called 911.

"He's got kind of a history of violence," the caller said, adding that the cat continued to charge whenever they tried to open the door.

Seriously? Trapped by an angry 22lb feline?

Good thing this generation of softies won’t ever have to blaze trails westward and tame the wilderness - they’d never make it.

The cat went feral right inside the house. Some are just predisposed to not accept domestication, no matter how well fed they may be.

Sometimes euthanization is the only option. Bad behavior in cats is not an easy condition to bring under control, if it is at all possible.

The cat could have something as drastic as a tumor or another serious nervous system disorder.

Just to qualify this, we have 3 cats, so it’s not like we hate cats, but if this sort of thing happened in our household, the cat would be gone! You can’t allow a family pet to attack you or your kids and keep it around.

Jaysus. You don’t even need a gun to protect yourself from a cat. A piece of wood is all it takes to learn the bast’d some respect.

Himalayans aren’t a wild breed, IIRC.
Not like a “savana cat” or something.

Weird. We have a very gentle Maine Coon. Might be approaching 20#, but I’d have no hesitation in shooting him if he did something like that.

Truth is, the kid probably smacked the cat, the Dad admits he whacked the cat. Cat gets pissed and wimps hide behind door and call 911.

Apparently the doofus couple have not decided if they are going to keep kitty yet. Yeh, really?

Little kids can often be mean to animals, well, because they seem to think they are like toys. People should not have pets with little ones in the house unless they train the kid and the pet.

I can’t wait for the headlines about the baby when he/she weighs in at 23 lbs. How far can you punt a 22 lb cat? (Damn, now I’m in deep trouble with PETA.)

They wouldn't have even made it out of Virgina into Tennessee/Kentucky, or anywhere else West of the Appalachians. They would have feared for too much danger for themselves and it could have been harmful to the environment, or they would have been afraid of offending/upsetting the Native people. Even if they had, Daniel Boone would have only made it to Tennessee, sold it to China, and retired.
