I stopped by a dog kennel we use couple times per year. They use propane for heating, it’s got a couple fairly big buildings.
Guy was telling me the heating bills have killed his profit.
Global Warming is red
Planet Earth is blue
Please pardon the carbon footprint
Of my New Michigan igloo
I could tell that my house was torqued out of square a bit most of this winter due to the ground being so frozen. I had a couple of doors that didn’t fit well over most of the winter. Now that things have warmed up a bit they close easy again.
Here is an interesting map that is hard to find since the warmists have taken over: http://www.hprcc.unl.edu/maps/current/index.php?action=update_product&product=H65Dept
Heating degree days - departure from normal. (Don’t know what the “normal” is. It may be a thirty year average.
democrats create a fake crisis like global warming to grow government/socialism, for their religion of collectivism
democrats are pure evil collectivist/socialist cretins , all of them
Theres been no warming, no sea level rise in 200 years of factories putting out C02 into the air.
This Winter was coldest in memory
Ice is growing in the poles, most ice ever in Antarctica, great lakes more ice than in decades or ever, , snow in Egypt this year, no hurricanes( so theres no climate change either) etc . ice in New orleans, pensacola florida, Atlanta etc.
but almost ALL democrat politicians and voters still believe in global warming
Obama is a socialist corrupt criminal
I don’t listen to Joe Bastardi in super detail but I think he’s alluded to strong odds of a series of upcoming frigid years like the late 70s.
Charlevoix has been bitterly cold this year, believe me.
I tend to agree with Bastardi on the cyclical nature of weather. Obviously there are natural long term climatic changes but within those are the 100, 50, 20 year cycles.
Part of my pessimistic long term view was to retire to a small well built home with nat gas. (Used to have a big drafty place with propane).
Highest bill this season was $140 incl water heater, stove, and dryer.
While growing up, I remember my grandparents had a strange habit — they'd open their bedroom window a couple of inches in the dead of winter! Of course, they had an electric blanket. But, damn if the bedroom wasn't freezing cold. Lol. And I imagine trips to the bathroom were fun.
I figured out later that that habit was probably from living in house where the only heat was the kitchen stove. Probably a huge blanket and a stone at the bottom of the bed for heat.
One of my great grandmother’s stories was about the family getting caught in a blizzard on a horse drawn wagon in 1905 or so near Traverse City Mi.
She said her father broke a path out 100 yards or so through waist deep snow in front of one horse then back in front of the other. Then lead the horses up that 100 yards and do it all over again. She said it took all night to go the few miles to home but it was the only choice he had.
I have a distant cousin that resides in Boyne Falls who I just connected with after many years. He sent me some pictures of his house and all I can say is that he is lucky he has a plow on his truck as well as a bobcat
I think we topped 100 inches of total snow this winter here in extreme southern Michigan this year. That’s not much for some parts of the state but its a lot for the Jackson area.
An Oregon news website mentioned that the NorthWest had the coldest winter in 70 years. They didn’t mention whether Al Gore was available for comment.
So it was once this cold BEFORE globull warming.
So....what caused the “polar vortex” in 1912?
It was nice to have our windows open this winter for a change (SFL).
