Dog eaten in its kennel by a python: Owner finds snake with leash still dangling from its mouth
the Daily Mail ^ | 14 March 2014

An Australian woman discovered her pet dog had been eaten by a snake in the most gruesome possible way after finding a bloated python lying curled in its kennel with the end of the dog's chain still dangling from its mouth.

Amazingly, the wildlife-lover had only chained her Chihuahua-Maltese cross overnight to stop it disturbing native animals near her Caniaba home in northern NSW, but it meant there was no escaping the 2.5-metre python that slithered into the kennel.

When the woman went outside to let the dog off its chain the following morning, she discovered the bloated snake curled up inside the kennel. The end of the chain was protruding from its mouth.

Things got worse for the shocked pet owner when she realised the chain that had been keeping her dog in its kennel was now ensuring the giant snake couldn’t get away either.

I’ve noticed the same thing about most guys.

I ended up with a large population on snakes in one of my sheds a few years ago and asked all the guys I knew that might have a clue how to get them gone. All of them just shivered and said “eeeww”.

I wish I lived closer to you.

I am begging people for snakes to replace the ones killed by locals.

I have goats and the rodents will overrun us if my snake population isn’t increased soon.

When I was just a little kid, my dad, who fancied himself as being just a bit badder than Clint Eastwood, would totally freak out when he saw me holding my most recent rat or corn snake capture.

I’ll never forget his reaction when I brought home a gorgeous, huge female road-killed copperhead I’d found on my walk.

I was going to skin it out and make him a really cool hat band but *noooo*!

Even though it was very dead, I had to carry it half a mile away from the house and toss it in the woods.

Zombie snakes?

LOL

I wish you lived closer, too! I live on a lake and the snake population outnumbers the humans. I've learned to live with them but will never develop a love like you have.

My answer to the “snakes in the shed” problem was to build a new shed, lol. For some reason, eventually the snakes left the original shed. Lack of food would be my guess.

What is the correlation between goats and rodents?

The goats get different types of pelleted feed every day and vermin flock to eat the inevitable dropped bits of food.

I suppose it’s possible you had some kind of a transient breeding congregation going on.

Certain snakes gather in huge numbers and conduct what can only be described as an orgy...;D

I gotch ya re: the goat pellets.

I hadn’t considered the breeding aspect but that is certainly a possibility.

Like I said...I live on a lake...a narrow cove of the lake. I have seen the breeding “orgy”, lol. The snakes will ball up and do water aerobics, making the water churn like crazy. Pretty awesome sight.

Wow....you should video that the next time you see it and put it on YouTube.

I’ve never see the likes of that and I’m betting lots of others have not, either.

It appears to be one of the Carpet Pythons, which are really popular in the pet trade due its docile nature.

A pet store near me has nice one for sale but I’ve kind of gone away from pythons in favor of boas.

If that’s the case.....We’ll never rid the world of irresponsible pet owners. ;(

I was sorely disappointed that I could not rub India ink into it for my first “bite tat”.

It was too small and shallow.
