I don’t think the stack is related to eitherside of the Fiorella family. I pass Hayward’s twice a day too but don’t stop in. Should try out the new owners to see if its good again. But Fiorellas is just too good not to make my BBQ destination.

I happen to like the one in Junction. Would go there on my way to Odessa.

Had read reviews on Tripadvisor that made it sound good although there were a few warnings that I ignored. Had heard the Obama's eat there when they're in town which should have been a red flag.

Love the historic district of Charleston, Hanks is a good place to eat if you like seafood. If you're going to Asheville and have never seen the Biltmore Estate that is something worth seeing, there is a restaurant in the old horse stable right next to the mansion named The Stable Cafe that serves pretty good BBQ.

Try Kibbs BBQ in Stuttgart, AK......absolutely wonderful. Save room for the Sweet Potato Pie for dessert! Miss Emma Kibbs is a fantastic cook.

That reminds me of my “field engineer” days.
I was in New Jersey and asked the guys for recommendations on a place to eat.

They said “there’s a good barbecue place on XYZ street”.
I said “I’m from Kansas City”.
They said, “oh... then there’s a good seafood place over there”.

It may be the cherry wood used to smoke.

And thank you so much for the map with the ‘good’ BBQ’s located on it. Btw, am familiar with NC east of Raleigh, a few years ago on was on the road with a sales territory that included NC, and I had customers in Rocky Mount, Wilson, Kinston and New Bern. But somehow I missed the good BBQ...darn!

We might have to spend a few extra days in NC on our trip!

What if you eat outside Texas state lines? Just a dab on pulled pork?

I like the Commissary. Also love Ridgewood BBQ. On opposite ends of the state!

Maybe you can work in one of the BBQ Bootcamps and learn how to make some yourself once back in Ohio. Maybe you can start your own Buckeye BBQ tradition, lol. There’s one May 16-17 at Tanglewood Park just outside Winston-Salem. Sounds like they teach the fundamentals of every style with a variety of meats, not just NC pork varieties.
