Loaded gun magazines found outside Ann Arbor elementary school

Two loaded gun magazines were found Tuesday in the snow next to a dumpster outside Carpenter Elementary School at 4250 Central Boulevard in Pittsfield Township, police said.

The two .40 caliber magazines were found by someone who lives near the school, said Pittsfield Township police Deputy Chief Gordy Schick.

Pittsfield Township police officers thoroughly canvassed the school property Tuesday afternoon and did not find other magazines or weapons, Schick said.

"Due to the condition of the magazines, we know the magazines have been there for some time," Schick said.

Schick said the found magazines may be connected to a theft from a vehicle that occurred in the neighborhood in January, in which magazines and ammunition were stolen.

That larceny remains under investigation, Schick said.

Some cop probably lost them while he was chasing a perp.

I'm with you on the first part; they belong to a cop. I doubt that they were lost in action. I think they fell out of a cop's car because they weren't stowed properly.

Because a cop was the likely source, no solution to this mystery will ever be publicly announced. They will search like OJ searched for Nicole's killer.
