Yes, I do...sort of.
The guy that got O-Care had just lost his job. He does not have to pay for it (guess who does...). He hates the fact that he got it, but he figures (right or wrong) that it’s better than nothing at all. He is not a lazy bum, and is actively looking for a job to try to find a way to get him and his family OFF it. I wish him luck.
Friends of my Wife signed up on Californy Care, aka Obamacare.
According to my Wife, they pay less than $200 for the Bronze Plan (Blue Cross?) and their One Year Old is on Medicaid, which their Pediatrician (a Friend of theirs) accepts.
The Husband is a Self Employed Attorney. The Wife works with him. They have no real Assets. They Rent their Home and the Husband is trying to payoff a ridiculous amount of Student Loans. He is negotiating a settlement of less than 50% of what he actually owes.
When I asked my Wife how their Healthcare Costs could possibly be so low, she said she didn’t know. I wanted to ask the Couple about it, but that would cause a “Disturbance in the Force”. My Political views are not compatible with those folks.
Yes. One of the 1099-ere at my office signed up on one of the exchanges, because he has a family member with a medical condition that was being denied treatment under their old plan, and the higher insurance cost would be offset by what they’re saving on getting the treatment covered under the new plan.
Only illustrates the point that the only people signing up are the ones who increase the overall risk in the pool.
Yes, and he thinks it was the only way for him to get insurance.
me too.
I dont have insurance through my new employer (I’m one of five employees). But, I do get a monthly allowance if I sign up for a policy, 80% of my premium up to $500 per month. I looked for some policies through MNSure, but haven’t picked one yet since I’m moving out of state in three months. Probably will buy one.
I buy my own insurance directly from Humana. It has to conform to Obamacare rules, but I’m not sure if that counts as being “in Obamacare” or not since I didn’t get it through the exchange.
I know two people, one on my side of the family, one on Hubby’s side. Both had previous insurance plans that were canceled and were forced on to Obamacare at higher rates and deductables. Both hate it. Only one voted for him.
I do.
yes, if you’re dirt poor and sick O’care is great...it’s going to encourage people to under report their income to get lower premiums, leaving those that can’t under report to pay more....a LOT more, more than they can afford.
Income redistribution on a grand scale.
Yes, I previously replied to you that my wife and I are insured through the Washington State Exchange.
We are with the same providers, same insurance company, same formulary, etc., so it is hard to say whether we love it or hate it; almost nothing has changed. I had a credit balance with the insurance company and this was carried forward. The previous plan was cancelled so we signed up the first week of October for the new plan.
All the hospitals ARE covered here, including the Catholic hospital. I realize this is very unusual. The hospitals in this area tend to get a lot of patients covered by Cadillac-type government contractor plans and so they are not hurting financially. In addition there are relatively few indigent people.
I was all prepared for a long list of invasive and objectionable Obamacare history questions (and had prepped my wife), but we got none of those (maybe because we were existing patients). We have had, I think, four appointments between us. Again, exactly the same as before.
As I mentioned, the formulary has not changed, so Rx the same as before (about 12 between us). We are lucky to not require any very expensive or proprietary or off-label drugs. Coverage would be poor or non-existent for some of them but this was true previously. Some of the drugs I continue to purchase for $4 cash at WalMart with insurance coverage not a factor.
I despise numerous aspects of Obamacare from the perspective of a traditional Catholic and social conservative. But in Washington State, a progressive and reform-oriented state, many of those considerations were the same pre-Obamacare. So again, little change.
FReepers can send me all the hate mail PMs they want; believe me I can handle it. But our insurance was cancelled and going without coverage was really not an option (see # of Rx above).
I continue to pray each day for the people (mostly in other states) who have lost coverage and medical care with no good options. One FReeper lady in Texas particularly whose name I forget; she was quite despondent about the whole thing a couple months ago.
Can’t say as I do.
not a one.
My guess is if there were really ANY paid enrollees, HHS and comrade 0bama would triple the actual number and be trumpeting it for propaganda purposes.
Even if you take their numbers at their word, at 4 Million sign ups, that’s about 1 in 100 people, and less than 10% of the supposed uninsured it was supposed to help. Of course when you take into account that of those 4 Million not all of them were uninsured but were folks already on medicaid or lost their existing coverage thanks to ObamaCare you have a multi trillion dollar boondoggle that hasn’t done a damned thing except make a bigger mess of things
my step mom... an Austin Tx liberal living out in Alpine did
No, I don't. I am advising people not to sign up as the ACA is unconstitutional (its passage violated Article 1, Section 7) and does not need to be obeyed.
