Jimmy Carter believes U.S. is spying on him

Former President Jimmy Carter believes U.S. intelligence agencies are spying on him — so much so, he eschews email to avoid government spies.

"You know, I have felt that my own communications are probably monitored," Carter told NBC's Andrea Mitchell in an interview broadcast Sunday. "And when I want to communicate with a foreign leader privately, I type or write a letter myself, put it in the post office and mail it.

"I believe if I send an email, it will be monitored," Carter continued.

The 89-year-old said the National Security Agency and others have abused the argument that gathering intelligence is critical to homeland security.

"That has been extremely liberalized and, I think, abused by our own intelligence agencies," Carter said.

Paranoia is one of a number of indications of dementia or Alzheimer's.

Would hate to see this in anyone.

I'd want to know, so that I could do the exact opposite.

They’re out to get you, Jimmy.

They’re digging for dirt. They gotta make you the worst president, again.

Government tends by its very nature to attract people who want to govern -- run other people's lives, in other words. It should be an urgent priority to discourage that sort of people from government service. They are supposed to be there to serve, after all, not rule.

Jimmy's awful dilemma:

Commit a left-wing fashion faux pas, or opt for the protection from dangerous NSA transmissions that only a well-constructed tinfoil beanie can provide?

As kid’s, we used to write a dummy message on the faceside of the letter and on the backside we wrote the real message in secret ink (lemon juice).

The recipient, then used heat (mom, can I borrow a candle) to de-cypher the real message on the backside.

To be extra secure we encrypted the real message using our encoder/decoder rings (free from a well known cereal manufacturer) and a key which the recipient had to find by trial and error before the message would make sense.

Double secure. You bet. Fun. You bet.

Sorry, no Internet or TV...4th graders had to do something besides build model planes and play Monopoly back then. Maybe Jimmah is having a flashback or something.

what do you care jimmy if you’re not doing anything wrong?

isn’t that the big brother/coplover line we hear all the time from various groups that think it’s just awesome to clamp down more and more on all of us little people? you know for our own safety?

rabbits, once you know them as pets, are awesome. they are a metaphor for how i live my life, and conservatives in general.

they are not by nature predators. they do not pick fights, generally wanting to just be left alone and simply live their lives. if they are wild they may live in groups and there is an established hierarchy, but once that is settled and everyone knows who’s in charge, things are peaceful. they do not pick offensive fights. their first instinct is to flee from danger or hide from it, not desiring to get into fights. but if they cannot use their preferred method of getting away from trouble, and they are cornered, believing they face a grave threat, they will attack and fight to the death.

and that is why i believe i relate to them so well.

Let me understand this????

One of the biggest liberals of modern history is worried about the abuse of over-liberalization???

Go Jimmy Go

at 89 the peanuts are gone, it’s just the shells that are left, and the bag they’re dangling in is dusting the floor.
