Glenn Beck's father has just passed away.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Glenn's father passed away at the age of 86. Glenn's father was a man who understood hard work, believed in the promise of America and will be missed by his children and grandchildren. Times like these remind us what is important in life and Glenn and his wife are deeply grateful for your thoughts and prayers. Glenn asks that, in lieu of flowers or donations, you would do one act of kindness for someone in your life and help spread the universal message of love.

Wow.

My Dad, a two time CIB, Purple Heart and Bronze Star awardee got three inches in the local paper. A Color Guard and a bugler. There were 300 people at his funeral and we were greatful.

I have no animosity towards public figures and their families for getting more attention.

Why does this bother you so?

Probably because there are so many, unlike your father, who never got or will not get the recognition for their service and yet the media lionizes so many who have accomplished no more than others except to be related to a celebrity. Anyway it’s my opinion, why does it seem to bother so many here? It’s not like I have no sympathy for anyones loss of a loved one, I do, I just can’t fathom the the need to promote celebrity.

And 100 years from know it won’t matter one bit to anyone alive today.

There are greater evils out there to get worked up about than this.

I agree, But the funny thing is how many people are WAY more worked up over this than anyone seems to think I am. But that's what I get for throwing a stink bomb!

After I posted a prayer thread for my father, who suffered a massive heart attack last fall, I announced his ultimate passing due to severe complications on this forum (an announcement so to say). It was because our FRiends here actually took time to pray and care about his final journey.

Prayer, caring, and sympathy have no boundaries nor a prescribed format.

Condolences to the Beck Family.

...how is he different of all the rest of us who have lost someone...

I can only speak for myself, but I never had a CEO or press secretary.

Maybe you should hire a press agent.

Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
-John Donne

May he rest in peace, and may his family have peace.

...but you didn't provide a link.

So hurry up, go find the location here on FR where a savior (from scoundrels) is needed, to better expedite the process.

Scoot, skedaddle, vamanous, go forth (into the bowels of the internet, and the backrooms of FreeRepublic where no Sidebars are there to guide the unwary and unprepared) then return to us, oh intrepid traveler, and show us where this most urgent series hugh condition is presently festering!

I’m sorry for your loss too. I don’t know Glenn or you but I am terribly sorry that both of you lost your dads.

Well I would guess that Glenn is as heartbroken as you and I were when our Dad’s passed. My Dad’s funeral was standing room only.

I'm sure he's heartbroken, I believe he is a good person and he has my sympathy, my comments have nothing to do with his personal loss, period!

Dad passed away 7+ years now. He was a marine who fought at guadalcanal & bougainville, then served the city of NY for 22 as one of its finest.

His funeral consisted of an honor guard if NYPDs finest, then at the national cemetery his guard was a phalanx of Marines. Very Nice. Mom died 5 years ago and received none of that, but she had a nice remembrance and service too.

Not a huge Beck fan, but he is a kindred spirit on so many things. I respectfully express my deepest sorrow and may his Dad Rest in Peace.
