Parents outraged after Arizona school allows boys and girls to use whichever bathroom they choose

TUCSON, AZ, March 27, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Parents with children attending a school in the Tucson Unified School District are outraged after school officials decided that transgender students could use whichever bathroom they "identify" with rather than be restricted by their biological sex.

According to KVOA TV, the Tucson Unified School District voted on March 25 to update its non-discrimination policy to include "gender identity and expression."

Parents with children at Anna Henry Elementary School in Tucson voiced their concern at a meeting on Wednesday night where they related incidents that made their kids very uncomfortable.

John Bellisario, principal of Henry Elementary, when asked which bathrooms transgender students are encouraged to use, replied, "We have multiple restrooms, we have boys restrooms, we have girls restrooms, we have unisex restrooms, and the children can use the restroom they identify with. That's based on case law all over the country."

Susan Wright related an incident where her 10-year old son was using the urinal in the boys' bathroom when a student he identified as a female walked in on him, according to a Tucson News Now report.

"My son won't even let me go in the bathroom with him, he won't let a female teacher go in with him, this did not make him comfortable," said Wright.

"My child's privacy was infringed upon. If he doesn't want his own mother in the bathroom with him, he's certainly not going to want one of his peers," Wright stated.

Another parent, Danya Ayers, said she knew of an incident where a boy was very uncomfortable after a child he knew as a girl removed her underpants in front of him.

"It's a privacy issue," concurred concerned parent Sharah Gray. "It's not a gay or a lesbian issue. If that were the case, I would despise my cousin, my uncle. That has absolutely nothing to do with it."

School officials told the parents at the meeting that they had temporarily addressed the issue by blocking off all the male urinals in the boys' bathrooms, telling students to use the stalls instead.

While some parents thought simply requiring kids to use stalls was an answer to the concerns of privacy for the children, others said the issues involved in pandering to transgender students were more complex.

"I mean, what's next?" asked Danya Ayers. "The next thing you know it's not just bathrooms, it's locker rooms, it's showers. Having two boys, I would not feel comfortable with them showering next to a fully developed female."

"It's a privacy issue, it's a safety issue. Some students are just not comfortable with it," said Ayers.

Why not just make all bathrooms single use size? I never understood the value in hMaking toilet use a communal experience.

I still remember the urinal at my junior high many years ago—a round tub like thing that up to eight boys could use at once, with everyone’s privates in full view of everyone else.

How is this transgender nonsense not considered mental illness? Who is driving this?

The insanity continues. Mainstreaming the mentally deranged at the expense of everyone else.

“I swear schools are run by freaky perverts. What is wrong with these people?”

This is the logical conclusion when society tolerates the mental derangement of a small minority by reordering itself to attempt to cater to their derangement.

The schools have just thrown in the towel.

What next? Beds in the bathrooms? A condom machine?

Another reason to homeschool.

There are going to be kids who grow up to hate their parents for what they allowed to be done to them. Can you imagine a little boy getting molested by a gay scout master and when the kid grows up he finds out his parents knew the guy was gay?

I don’t have school aged kids. If I did, they would not be in public school.

As for these parents, it’s a little late to start complaining. Where were they a few years ago when this was being discussed? And who did they vote for on the school board?

A) Some people just can’t afford private schools or be home to home school.
and
B) YOUR tax dollars are paying for this.

Either one of those points should make you just a bit more..

something.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself.)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. Metmom holds both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. (Some of us are filling in for her temporarily.) Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

But, what will they do about it? Will they have the courage to fire the school board and the administration?

To put this in a weird perspective, this is a school district that won’t allow a teacher to hand out a single piece of hard candy as a ‘reward’ for doing well in something because that would promote obesity. But the damn liberals who run Tucson are glad to have guys dressed as girls in the girl’s bathroom!

Thanks for getting the ping TOT - I’ll keep an eye out and try to help.

Wow... you know, I’m raising an almost five-year-old right now. She has to be taught that she’s a girl, and not a bear or a pig or a dragon or an airplane. Should I be coddling her and demanding that other people recognize her as a dragon if that’s how she chooses to identify? Or should I teach her that “this bathroom is for girls, and this one is for boys, and since you’re a girl you use this one”?

It seems like just yesterday you had an infant. Now she’s five? Where did the time go? :-)

My middle child at that age identified as a dinosaur. He would literally run around and act like one. Once he even bit his older brother. I guess I should’ve demanded that the whole world recognize him as a dinosaur.
