This guy has been here long enough to stop being an asshole.

Miami is full of Cubans who floated over and don't act like lunatics .

Genius has already been arrested for speeding (over 100 MPH) in Tennessee and Florida.

Hopefully he will mature soon, because the Majors don't have unlimited patience for guys who have an attitude problem.

First week of the season and he's already been late on opening day and got injured sliding headfirst into 1B for no apparent reason.

Guy spends 300K from what most likely could be his first and only MLB contract on a Rolls Royce, so he's basically more stupid than Mike Tyson.

Guy will probably have a tiger in his living room next week.

He's been advised by Joe Torre from MLB to be a credit to the game.

Lets hope he smartens up soon.

One thing I wonder about, supposedly the ball in these latin countries is generally played with much more flamboyance. That’s fine, I wouldn’t want to watch it all the time, but it’s their baseball culture. Besides the celebrating it’s a pretty exiting brand of ball, so much talent out of there. They come out of dug-out after non-game winning homers to celebrate, watch their homers at the plate leave the park before they start running. So don’t their pitchers throw at guys? Or do they but they just flamboyantly celebrate anyway? Anyone know?

Only in this country is excuses made for everybody. Everywhere you look excuses. This writer must believe that every poor athlete in the world must come from the DR exclusively. How come some poor kid from Ghana or Nigeria doesn’t get the benefit of constant excuses when that kid shows up in London to play for Chelsea or Arsenal. He is expected to show up on time and play hard at all times. If he doesn’t, back to Africa he goes. In the top leagues in Europe players come from all Continents of the globe, yet nobody makes excuses for them. Even those from Latin America seem to get on fine in England, Germany, even Russia for Pete’s sake. There is a 25 year old player from Mexico named Javier Hernandez playing for Manchester United, about the same age as Puig. Now you could not have a bigger cultural difference than Guadalajara and Manchester, but this guy seems to be doing fine. How come this player Hernandez can adapt to Manchester, but Latin MLB players cannot adapt to the US, where Spanish is spoken everywhere. I do not think you hear much Spanish in Manchester.

Most important point in the article is that he’s already been paid. His, what, $40M? contract is signed, sealed and delivered, and the only hold they have on him is his loyalty to the game.

LOL, what loyalty? He’s in it for the money, and he got the money. He reminds me of Usain Bolt, laughing and hamming it up in the middle of the freaking race, and still winning. These guys are so talented, it doesn’t mean the same thing as it does to everyone else. They’re into the fame and fun, not the competition. And they are young and undisciplined and rich as hell.

He might make it to a real career in baseball. But don’t hold your breath. The only thing that could have reined him in was money, but LA already shot its wad, and he knows it. Kick him out tommorrow, and he’s still 23 years old in LA with $40M. Good luck with that discipline thing (and LOL, no, it’s not a “language problem.”).
