Many of us choose what we eat very carefully, or at least dedicate our minimum attention to it. But when it comes to drinks, especially alcoholic beverages, we do little to make the best decisions for our health. Which is a HUGE mistake.
All the work for your body can be ruined in a weekend out. While foods and non alcoholic beverages are required to list their ingredients and are monitored by the FDA, beer does not belong in either.
Alcohol industry had lobbied for years to avoid labeling its ingredients. Some to protect its recipes, but most to hide harmful ingredients.

Its important to expose companies that use harmful ingredients in our products. This information is hidden from the public with millions of dollars of false advertising, laws, etc. You can always vote with your money. As this information about GMO beers spreads, we will see a decrease in production of these beers and the companies may eliminate the harmful ingredients altogether. Most importantly, when you hang out with your friends, you will be able to share beer thats more delicious and healthier.

Yep, Guinness is out for this Irish American. Murphey’s is better anyway. Sam Adams is also out. Heineken was never in. That is close to the worst beer I have ever swallowed. Unless I see some really public apology GTFU of my life. Saw a Sam Adams commercial last might where they actually had the nerve to play Irish music in it!
Years ago, there was a xeroxed cartoon that circulated through my workplace.
It depicted a well-endowed stallion drinking one brand of beer from a bucket while simultaneously relieving himself in another bucket. The source bucket was labeled “Budweiser” and the destination bucket was labeled “Miller Light”.

I expected to see actual contaminants or harmful ingredients, but the worst thing on their list seems to be MSG. Mostly “anti-GMO”, “anti-corn syrup” hysteria.
My everyday beer at home are pilsners and lagers that conform to German Purity Law (water, yeast, hops and barley). Pilsner Urquell or Samuel Adams Lager, for instance. When I'm in a brew pub, I might go for the more exotic porters and stouts.
This article is odd though, beer is hardly "unhealthy" if consumed in moderation. You are probably better off with beer than any soda or "sports/energy" drink.

Seriously, you can’t honestly believe that tinkering with genes in our food will all end well. This is an assault on the entire planet. Not only because they are modifying OUR food supply, but they will eventually contaminate the ENTIRE world food supply. If you call yourself a conservative, this should be at the top of your priority list. Your ok with government controlled genetically modified food? This is a thousand times worse than government controlled healthcare!
I’ve no desire to either live forever or unnecessarily punish myself while I’m here. I think I’ll continue to *enjoy* most any red, brown or amber ale I encounter. If GMO stuff claims me early, so be it. Besides, I need to kick the bucket before that term life runs out.

And once when in Montreal I asked at a restaurant what kind of foreign beers they had: “Bud, Miller...” Ah.
I know I’m in Boston area and Bud is made at a brewery not far away in Merrimack, NH...when I travel to places like Pittsburgh I get Iron City, William Penn etc
And I use a couple of pints at a time as a perfect rehydrating and recovery drink after recreation B'ball with those 40-50 year old kids. Fluid, carbohydrate and pain killer in a refreshing form; who could ask for more?

Someone told me that Heineken makes Murphy's; I have not yet researched it.
I’m fond of Murphy’s and even Beamish (the two stouts originally from Cork), but they’re currently owned by Heineken, the other “boycott” beer company. It’s going to get harder to find a stout not only owned by an Irish company but also an apolitical company. One stout I was interested in is O’Hara’s, which is actually made by a company based in Carlow and is available in the USA but with limited distribution; haven’t gotten to try the stuff yet though.
They don’t tell the truth. Ammonium compounds are used to make the caramel coloring but are not present in the final product.
And Coors Light contains less beer.
Most of the beers on that list are nasty. But I ain’t giving up on Guinness or New Castle. Especially not for caramel color or fish bladders. Most of their “scary list” of ingredients are just stupid.
